Mayor Woods is a self-professed foodie. So, when he heard that was opening a permanent location, he had to check it out.

Tender meats smoked to perfection and a myriad of side choices, your belly will thank you.

Brothers Ahmad and Mo Abu Ghazal, and Mo’s wife Salsabil fell in love with barbecue in the depths of Dallas, Texas, after coming to the U.S. from Jordan. They relocated to the Grand Canyon State in 2019 and started Wild BBQ as a food truck business in 2023.

They opened their brick-and-mortar location at University Drive and Roosevelt Street in December.

Open Thursday-Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., but get there early if you want to try everything!

🚲Congrats to the 2026 Bike Hero – Nancy Puffer! 🚲

She is a dedicated volunteer with Bike Saviours, where she serves on the Board of Directors as Director of Art. Using discarded bicycle parts from the Bike Saviours scrap bin, Nancy creates original works of art, transforming old bicycle components into mirrors, jewelry, sculptures, decor, and one-of-a-kind statement pieces. Most impressively, Nancy donates 100% of the proceeds from these sales to Bike Saviours.

Nancy is also the lead organizer of the annual RE:Cycle Art Night, benefiting Bike Saviours. This unique event unites the arts and cycling communities. For the past two years, Nancy has led this entirely volunteer-driven event, which has become one of Tempe's most creative grassroots community celebrations. Nancy truly embodies what it means to be a bike hero.

🐶 🐱 Animals in Tempe would have new protections that keep them safe and healthy through an updated Animal Ordinance that has a first hearing at the June 11 City Council meeting. Proposed changes would:

• Keep animals safe from extreme weather
• Ensure veterinary care is provided to keep pets healthy
• Require adequate shelter for dogs living outdoors
• Allow police to rescue an animal believed to be in danger from a car

The updates come through the Animal Welfare and Cruelty Council Subcommittee, led by Councilmember Berdetta Hodge, with Vice Mayor Doreen Garlid and Councilmember Jennifer Adams.

Provide comment at the June 11 hearing at 6 p.m. at City Council Chambers. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4oeOUXx

These crayons melted in the back seat of a parked car.

Imagine what that heat can do to a child or pet.

With temperatures approaching 110° this week, remember that the inside of a vehicle can become dangerously hot in just minutes, even with the windows cracked.

Look before you lock.

Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

If you see a child or pet in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.

🙋 Expanding services for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of being homeless by funding shelter operations
💼 Improving access to essential services such as job search and placement assistance
