I appreciate community members Lisa Zyriek and Janet Hamlin for reaching out to me over a year ago with an idea for a dementia-friendly park. I knew it was something our community needed. As a leader in Dementia and Age-Friendly services and support, Tempe will now become the first in the country to offer a recreational space for those living with dementia and caregivers.

Thank you John Kane of Architekton for your generosity in donating the design costs and for the Tempe Diablos Charities to make the park one of your projects.

The City of Tempe has turned off its Flock automated license plate reader (ALPR) system and will end its contract with the company. The cameras are no longer collecting license plate data and will be removed by Flock. The City will not seek another company to replace the system.

This year 21 Tempe high school students particpated in the Career Ready Tempe summer internship program. The students gain hands-on work experience by exploring careers with local Tempe businesses.

Now in its seventh year, Career Ready Tempe prepares local students for future careers by combining work experience with professional development. Students are also matched with advisors from College Connect Tempe, who help them explore career and education goals. Interns can work up to 120 hours during the summer.

Career Ready is a collaboration between the City of Tempe and the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Tempe Union High School District. Qualifying students live or go to school in Tempe.
