Today’s takes us to the Olin E. Teague Veterans Medical Center to meet Nurse Kristian Rivera.

Kristian earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler and has spent more than a decade answering the calling to care for others.

Her connection to began as a student nurse. Even then, Kristian knew there was something special about caring for Veterans. She knew she wanted to continue serving the men and women who had devoted their lives to serving our country.

Today, Kristian serves in the Emergency Department at the VA in Temple. In moments that can be frightening, uncertain, and overwhelming, she brings compassion, skill, and a genuine desire to make a difference to every Veteran who comes through the doors.

“I knew from the start that I wanted to take care of Veterans. They have made so many sacrifices for us and I like to show them everyday that I appreciate them.”
