Congratulations to Belton POA President Richard Spurgeon and the Belton Police Association on being formally recognized as an association and the sole bargaining agent with the City of Belton.

The entire City Council voted to support the petition and the association.

TMPA Field Representative David Kurylowicz was honored to assist in this effort.

Excited for the future!

The City of Temple has selected Coy Brown as its next Police Chief following a nationwide search that drew 32 candidates from eight states.

Brown brings nearly two decades of experience with the Cedar Park Police Department, where he has served in a variety of leadership roles and built a strong track record of team development, community engagement, and organizational growth. He will begin serving Temple on May 1, 2026.

81 awesome people participated in today’s Temple Police Department Civil Service Entrance Exam! The exam is just step one of the long, arduous process one must successfully pass in order to obtain an opportunity to become a Temple Police Officer!

Next step for the guys and gals that passed today’s written exam is the 2000 meter row, where a minimum VO2 score needed is 25%.

Our next entrance exam is tentatively scheduled for January 31st, 2026. More details will come in the near future.

The Temple Police Department is honoring Officer T. “Charlie” Aumua with a special tribute outside headquarters — his patrol vehicle has been placed in front of the building as a symbol of his service and sacrifice. The public is invited to stop by and pay their respects.

Officer Aumua tragically drowned Friday while off duty at the lake with his family. His body was recovered Saturday morning after a multi-agency search.

A public funeral will be held this Friday, August 8 at 10 a.m. at Vista Community Church (7051 Stonehollow Dr., Temple).

On behalf of the Waco PD Family, our hearts are with our brothers and sisters in blue at the Temple Police Department.

The loss of Officer Aumua is felt by all of us, and his service will never be forgotten. We are grieving alongside his family, friends and colleagues. Officer Aumua’s legacy will live on. We extend our deepest condolences, and stand by the Temple PD family in mourning and in solidarity.
