Part-Time Animal Control Officer (ACO)
Town of Templeton, Massachusetts
The Town of Templeton is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Animal Control Officer (ACO) position. The schedule is expected to be approximately two to three days per week, with specific hours and work schedules to be determined.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working independently while providing professional and compassionate service to residents and animals within the community. Responsibilities include responding to animal-related complaints and emergencies, enforcing applicable laws and regulations, handling animals safely and humanely, preparing detailed reports, issuing citations when necessary, and providing testimony in court proceedings.
Candidates must be able to:
Communicate effectively and professionally with the public.
Safely and compassionately handle distressed, injured, stray, and occasionally aggressive animals.
Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports.
Enforce applicable laws, regulations, and bylaws.
Issue citations and appear in court when required.
Work independently and exercise sound judgment in a variety of situations.
Qualifications:
Experience in animal control, law enforcement, veterinary services, animal care, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to pass a background check and interview process.
