All students should pre-register at least 1 week prior to the course start date using the online registration form. Phone registrations are not accepted. A separate form should be submitted for each co

urse. Signed Registration Forms
All registration forms must be signed by the student’s chief or an authorized person. Signed forms can be mailed, faxed or emailed to Knox County Fire Training Academy. Confirmations
Confirmation emails will be sent one week prior to the course start date. Payments
Payment should be made prior to the course start date by purchase order or check. Payment can also be made the day of the class. Cancellations
Please submit cancellation requests by email. Please include your name, department, course name and start date. To obtain a refund you must cancel at least one week prior to the course start date. Certificates
Will be issued to students who complete their course. Certificates will be distributed at the close of each class by the instructor. General Class Information
Classes will have a minimum and maximum enrollment. If the class minimum is not met, registered students will be informed via email. Class start times and duration will vary. Please refer to the course details for specifics. Protective Equipment Required
No student shall be allowed to participate in fire fighting field exercises unless he/she is equipped with approved protective clothing including coat, helmet, boots, and gloves. Students taking the course in protective breathing apparatus and fire attack must bring their own breathing apparatus. No beards allowed in classes using S.C.B.A.’s. Proof of FIT Test must also be provided. Disabilities
To ensure complete participation in the course, please inform us of any special requirements you might have due to a disability.

Here they are—the 2026 Knox County Fire Training Academy Firefighter I & II Graduates! 🎉🚒

Today marked the final day of hands-on testing, bringing six months of hard work, determination, and countless hours of training to a close. It was a long, demanding day, but these cadets never wavered. They stayed focused, supported one another, and rose to every challenge placed in front of them.

We’re incredibly proud to say that every single cadet passed.

Over the past six months, these men and women have given up Tuesday nights, every other Saturday, and countless hours with their families to prepare themselves for one purpose: to answer the call when their communities need them most. That level of commitment is something to be proud of.

To our graduates: You have earned this. You’ve proven that you have the determination, resilience, and heart this profession demands. But as Instructor Mike has reminded you time and time again, this isn’t the end of your learning—it is only the beginning. Never stop training. Never stop asking questions. Never become comfortable with what you already know.

The fire service needs firefighters who are committed to becoming better every day, and we have no doubt that’s exactly who each of you will be.

As your instructors, there is no greater compliment we can give than this: We would gladly walk into a fire with every one of you at our backs.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. It has been an honor to watch you grow, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes you.

A huge thank you to Maritime Energy for their generous donation of 600 pounds of propane to support the Knox County Fire Training Academy’s Firefighter I & II live burn training.

This training provided our students with the invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience controlling and safely shutting down propane tank fires—skills that are critical for firefighter safety and effective emergency response. We were also proud to have students from the Mid-Coast School of Technology (MCST) Fire Science program participating alongside our Firefighter I & II class, further enhancing their real-world training experience.

Partnerships like this make a tremendous difference in the quality of training we can provide. Thank you, Maritime Energy, for investing in the education and preparedness of the next generation of firefighters. Your support helps ensure our students are ready to serve their communities safely and effectively.

KCFTA is in full swing! 🚒💪

Yesterday our students geared up and dove into PPE basics, then really tested themselves by working through air consumption on their SCBA. Sweaty, tired, and still smiling—because that’s how growth happens.

They’re showing up motivated, ready to work, and giving it their all… and that’s exactly what we love to see! 🔥

We still have a few spots available for the upcoming Fire 1&2 Academy that starts in January! If you want to be considered for a spot, check out the registration form and get yourself signed up. You will also need to attend the orientation that is taking place next Tuesday (Dec 9 @ 1800) at the West Rockport Station. Registration forms are located on our website.
