Hello All,

Sadly, the duopoly has once again denied the will of the people. Registered voters in NJ's 7th wanted choice and the NJ GOP doesn't care. Lana and the NJLP will continue fighting the good fight, but in the meantime, Leguía for NJ District 7 has decided to continue running as a write-in. Please continue to support her and help us take back the government for the voters, rather than for the duopoly.

LANA LEGUÍA LAUNCHES AGGRESSIVE WRITE-IN CAMPAIGN FOR NJ-07 FOLLOWING GOP BALLOT CHALLENGE

STANHOPE, NJ – September 1st, 2026 – Endorsed by the New Jersey Libertarian Party, Lana Leguía officially announced today the launch of an aggressive write-in campaign to represent New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, the state's only swing district.
The move comes after the New Jersey Republican State Committee (NJRSC) spent heavily on legal maneuvers to strip Leguía from the printed ballot in a desperate plot to shield vulnerable incumbent Congressman Thomas Kean Jr. from being held accountable for his months-long disappearance on the taxpayer dime.

Refusing to be intimidated, Leguía has doubled down on her commitment to defeat establishment corruption by hiring Election Day Strategies, a nationwide campaign management firm, to drive her write-in strategy to victory in November.

The establishment tried to silence voters (including the more than 700 in-district voters who signed her petitions) through procedural blockades, but Leguía is taking her message directly to the write-in ballot. Her campaign directly targets incumbent Tom Kean Jr., who pocketed roughly $55,300 in taxpayer funds for his nearly four month paid vacation, missing 140 votes while offering zero proof of his whereabouts—and who stubbornly REFUSES to give that money back to taxpayers.

"The establishment GOP thought a technicality would rob District 7 voters of a real choice," said Lana Leguía. "Even the Judge admonished them. They can kick us off the printed ballot, but they cannot silence citizens demanding accountability. While Tom Kean Jr. pockets taxpayer cash for a ghost-like vacation and stubbornly refuses to return the $55,300 he took from us – (and leaving us with NO representation), we are fighting back. Ironically, Kean consistently votes against YOUR ability to enjoy the same paid employment leave that he feels entitled to. Is Congressman Kean even fit to serve our district? By all accounts, he is still in hiding. “

Leguia is demanding that Kean Jr. return every cent of the approximately $55,300 he took from hardworking taxpayers, along with solid proof of his whereabouts during those four months he was absent. Additionally, taxpayers should receive a prorated refund of their federal taxes due to not having representation during that time.

Teaching Tuesday:

Hello All,

Recently, there has been a lot of discourse about how to best raise children and how to protect them from the many evils of the world. Many have argued that more force, political or otherwise, needs to be directed at young people in order to ensure they walk the straight and narrow. David Friedman, son of the famed economist Milton Friedman (affectionately called uncle Milty) argues against that idea. In fact, following a similar line of reasoning that Rothbard uses in Ethics of Liberty, he believes that children ought to be given greater respect and self-ownership. The real issue, says Friedman, is not a lack of control, but parental deficiency. Give it a read!

They swear they’re a human-rights charity with a flag and an anthem.

Then the same crew shows up like Depression-era racketeers:

“Nice life you’ve got there. Shame if something happened to it because you skipped the protection fee.”

Taxation with a smile is still a shakedown.

Liberties that vanish the moment you stop funding the enforcer aren’t rights—they’re a subscription.

Liberty starts when “pay up or else” stops being called public service.

Hello All,

On March 1st, 2026, President Trump told us that the entire duration of the Iran conflict would run for about 4-5 weeks. Today, September 1st, 2026, marks month SIX (184th day) of the "4 week" engagement. At an estimated 1 billion dollars DAILY, we've wasted, 184 billion dollars to date, while achieving next to nothing. The Strait of Hormuz has yet to be stabilized, gas prices continue to shift upward (with the only relief coming from draining our strategic stockpile and running on-again, off-again gas tax holidays in certain states), the U.S. has nearly depleted its store of long-ranged precision missiles, and upwards of 10,000 casualties across the region have been reported (many of whom are innocent bystanders). We have long since abandoned and forgotten the narrative that this was supposed to protect victimized Iranian protestors, and our Commander-in-Chief is openly claiming that he intends to annex the Strait. This entire operation has been an abject failure and our President's unwillingness to admit defeat is compounding the problem. Unfortunately, Congress lacks a backbone and refuses to do anything about it (such as by exercising its Constitutional authority over war declarations and the purse). Neither the Democrats nor Republicans care about the deaths, the debt or the destruction. They have long since been bought by every military contractor and war-loving lunatic in Washington. The only way to bring back normalcy is to kick them all out of every office. Be Bold and Vote GOLD this November to stop the bloodshed and stave off our potential bankruptcy!

Meme Monday:

Hello All,

Prospect Park Councilman, Anand Shah (D), pleaded guilty to racketeering and has been permanently banned from public office. He admitted to operating an illegal gambling ring with ties to organized crime (the non-political kind) which earned him close to $1,000,000, which he used for his campaign. He is charged with racketeering, money laundering and official misconduct, which could land him in jail for 10 years. Now, Libertarians have always rejected the idea that gambling, and all other vices ought to be regulated, criminalized or taxed. If consenting adults wish to throw their money away with dice rolls, that is their decision. However, there is a clear and serious threat by connecting politics and games of chance (granted, it's dangerous to connect politics to anything). "Shah admitted that he would forgive outstanding balances to those who owed him money if they contributed to his campaign fund." (NY Post) This kind of collusion undermines public office and the will of the people and ought to be punished accordingly. And, as with all things, we Libertarians believe the best course of action is to separate all things (including gambling) from the State.

P.S. It took an exceedingly long time to actually find out Shah's political affiliation. Conservative commentators are right in saying that it's unfair to bury a corrupt politician's connection to the Democrats, while plastering the GOP connection in the title. Crooks are crooks, regardless of whether they prefer to be draped in the colors red or blue.

Hello All,

The facts are the facts. the NJ GOP are using dirty tactics because they lack the ability to actually persuade voters to support them by their own merits. They are trying their darndest to get Leguía for NJ District 7 kicked off the ballot, because only through force do they stand a chance. Don't let them get away with it! Be Bold and Vote Gold! Vote Lana Leguía for NJ's 7th!

Hello All,

We have been told that U.S. District Court Judge Zahid N. Quraishi will likely issue his ruling concerning Lana Leguia's campaign sometime tomorrow. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we weren't able to issue a statement earlier. Regardless of the outcome, we thank Judge Zahid N. Quraishi for his consideration in this matter. We also want to assure our followers that Lana Leguía will continue to fight for NJ's 7th District regardless of whether she wins or loses this case. Without any more preamble, please read our Chair's statement.

For Immediate Release:
September 1st, 2026
The New Jersey Libertarian Party Denounces the GOP’s attack on Democracy

"We of the New Jersey Libertarian Party denounce, in the strongest terms, the underhanded, baseless and pathetic attempts by the New Jersey Republican State Committee to prevent the citizens of New Jersey from being able to vote for the candidate they believe in.

Lana Leguía, the Libertarian candidate for NJ’s 7th District, submitted over 750 signatures that were collected by circulators hailing from out-of-State. The NJ Republican State Committee challenged those petitions, removing Lana Leguía from the ballot on the basis that NJ Statute 19:27A‑9 requires circulators to be residents of New Jersey.

However, Nathaniel Ruben representing the Attorney General’s office testified on August 25th that the Division of Elections directly tells candidates they can use out-of-state circulators. The voters who endorsed Lana Leguia’s petition were registered to vote in District 7. Why should the residency of the circulators disenfranchise those voters? These types of statutes have been repeatedly struck down as they exist only to limit the choices of Americans and undermine the democratic process. Why have NJ Republicans only objected to it now, after 5 years of this statute not being enforced. Why now? Why this election? They are scared, and they really ought to be.

The last two Republican majorities have been a complete disaster. Their figurehead, President Trump, has done everything within his power to destroy what little credibility the GOP has, and rather than standing on principle, nearly every Republican has gleefully towed the line. Despite their impressive showing at the polls in 2024, the writing on the wall is clear, their time is up. It’s so bad that Trump has even said that "You got to win the midterms, because if we don’t win the midterms, it’s just going to be — I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me." Republicans have made it their mission to do whatever they can to win, regardless of whether it’s moral, practical, or legal.

This is the core issue motivating the NJ Republican State Committee. Lana Leguia’s opponent, incumbent Representative Thomas Kean Jr. has been an abject failure. The definition of a ‘nepo baby’, Kean Jr. has a laughably 38% rating on the Freedom Index, and a 58% lifetime review by Heritage Action. He secured funding for two separate Flock Camera projects in Philipsburg and Mount Arlington, and, perhaps most infamously, took a 116-day unexplained paid medical leave, despite voting against its enactment in Congress. In a fair competition, Kean Jr. has no chance of beating anyone. The NJ Republican State Committee has no other cards to play other than baseless litigation.

Any law that establishes regulatory requirements for federal office outside what is laid out in the US Constitution is a direct attack on democracy and the intention of our Founders. We call on U.S. District Court Judge Zahid N. Quraishi to do what is right and throw the New Jersey Republican State Committee’s challenge down the toilet where it, and their leadership, belong. To Representative Thomas Kean Jr. we would like to extend our sympathy towards his fight with depression. We truly hope he gets the help he needs. That does NOT excuse his performance, behavior or voting record. We suggest he withdraw from the race and from politics to better focus on his recovery. The people of New Jersey’s 7th District deserve a representative who is capable of bearing the responsibility."

Hello All,

The nanny state strikes again. Rather than making parents actually parent their kids, they want to implement serious restrictions to communication and personalization in gaming. Also, in the particular case of changing names, this bill also fails to realize that there is no global standard for these names, meaning that for the games to operate they need to change things up. Languages are all quite different, as are their offensive words. For instance the character 'Bulbasaur' and its line couldn't be shared online via trade because the suffix "saur" which means lizard is actually a slur in German. But given that most people in Washington can't comprehend the English used in the Constitution, why is anyone surprised they don't have a grasp on how languages differ.

Special Saturday:

Hello All,

As a result of Trump latest temper tantrum Lake Ontario, named after an Iroquoian word ontarí:io, meaning "great lake" is now called "Lake America" by Executive Order. What does this achieve? The Canadians will just disregard the new nomenclature (as the President has no control over bodies of water and their names), and the word itself came from a Native tribe found in both Canada and the United States, so changing the designation really only disrespects them. This comes after Trump famously changed the Gulf of Mexico into "The Gulf of America" and his recent suggestion that the U.S. will seize total control over the Gulf of Hormuz and turn it into a US territory. Granted, he never said it would be called the Gulf of America but give it time. Now, in the great scheme of things does this really affect much of anything (aside from his casual threat to annex foreign soil without a Congressional declaration of war)? Probably not. Most likely, once ole' 47 leaves office, the next President will revert to the original names of Lake Ontario, the Gulf of Mexico and Mt. Denali (which has been the formally recognized name by the Alaskan government since 1975) and we can all return to using our older maps. Additionally, even by the most generous of stretches, the nomenclature of various geological structures miles away from New Jersey has little if any impact on the 101+ problems we face in the Garden State. So why then, after all that preamble are we talking about yet another Trump tantrum? Because sometimes, you just have to make an Animaniacs joke. This one goes out to all the millennial Libertarians!
