Founded by Brandy & Gene Griffin in 2012, Nine Points Ranch will be an off-the-grid, sustainable retreat for artists that is located in the beautiful desert setting of Terlingua, TX. Brandy & Gene Griffin have teamed up with Architect, Charlie Russell of Rasp Design, to bring this vision to a reality. This retreat will have two major structures. A cabin and a an outdoor living area/campgrounds. Th
e cabin will be built out of a 40′ shipping container and will be powered by solar energy which is an abundant resource in this region. The cabin will also features stack ventilation for natural airflow, custom windows with the highest UV rating possible and a water catchment system. The cabin will be outfitted with a king size bed and a futon that will be able to sleep 4 people comfortably. It will also have an art studio, storage closet, a breakfast area and a star gazing deck on the roof. The cabin will be accompanied by a 31′ x 24′ covered outdoor studio, living area and camping shelter. The outdoor living area/campgrounds will feature an in-ground grill, large picnic tables, a solar powered ceiling fan, a fire-pit, a hammock and solar powered LED flood lights for nighttime illumination. Temporary residence at the ranch will be FREE to approved artists of any kind (musicians, painters, photographers, writers, drawers, sculptors, poets, etc.). The ranch is 5 acres that is nestled in the valley of the 9 Point Mesa. The ranch is on flat valley land, but has a 360 degree view of beautiful mountains. Visitors to the ranch have access to the Terlingua Ranch Lodge which is about a 15 minute drive down the main Terlingua Ranch Rd. The lodge has bathrooms, showers, a solar heated swimming pool and the Bad Rabbit Cafe’ that has great food, cold beer and events year-round. The ranch is a 20 minute drive from the historical Terlingua Ghost Town that has restaurants, bars, a grocery store and shopping. Big Bend National Park is a 30 minute drive from the ranch and provides many activities such as rafting, hiking, biking, horseback riding just to name a few. We are currently in the planning, fundraising and building stages. Please feel free to contact us with questions, comments, donations or tips. Anything and everything is appreciated. SUPPORTERS:
Rasp Design - Architect, Charlie Russell of Rasp Design, has been an integral part of this project. He has been able to put our visions in to a realistic, functional design. He has also brought some excellent insight to the project by implementing building techniques to maximize the sustainability of the Nine Points Ranch structures. Falcon Containers - Falcon Containers and their amazing staff showed great interest in this project from the day I approached them about it. They supplied the 40' shipping container, fabricated some of the cut-outs for the doors/windows, offered their facilities for us to do our carpentry work and transported the container out to the ranch in Terlingua. They have been very fair and flexible with us throughout the entire project. This project could have not become a reality without their expertise, assistance and support. Supergreen Solutions Austin - The guys down at Supergreen Solutions Austin were very excited to lend their knowledge on green products that are perfect for our project. They presented different options for solar lighting systems and solar powered ventilation to help keep the cabin more comfortable for our artists.
