We are a fully volunteer fire department serving 30 sq miles in Pawnee and Creek Counties.

We have a volunteer staff of 18 firefighters, 5 auxiliary members that meet the needs of our community.

We are currently working on a grass fire across the road from Billy B’s, between old Highway 64 and Highway 64. Crews have reported that they have successfully controlled the fire with mutual aid from Cleveland Fire.

Crews just cleared a small grass fire that had started because a previous burn from the evening before kicked back up from the hot coals. So please take the time to go double, triple or quadruple check you burns from the past few days! This is a good reminder of how Hot the coals stay for several days after burning! We hope you have a great rest of your weekend! Also a reminder that we are still looking for more volunteer firefighters and auxiliary and support staff!!!!

At approximately 12:05 PM yesterday, North 48 Fire Department was dispatched to a tank battery fire off 5500 Road near the county barn.

Upon arrival, crews encountered three tanks on fire, along with oil burning in the containment pit. An additional four tanks were being threatened by the fire.

Crews made an aggressive initial attack and had the fire under control in less than five minutes. However, approximately 14 minutes into the incident, a flow line from another tank on the site began feeding oil back into the pit. This broke the foam blanket and caused the fire to reignite.

Within approximately 10 minutes, conditions rapidly deteriorated, with five tanks involved in fire and three additional tanks being threatened.

Crews continued working in triple-digit temperatures with a heat index near 110°F while battling the intense fire and radiant heat. At approximately 2:30 PM, crews were able to bring the fire back under control.

Several firefighters were treated for heat-related illness, and a few firefighters sustained radiant heat burns while operating at the scene.

The extreme radiant heat also damaged one of our fire engines. Despite being positioned approximately 100 feet from the fire, the heat was intense enough to melt portions of the radiator and damage several wiring harnesses.

Incidents like this show just how quickly conditions can change. What appeared to be under control within minutes turned into a much larger and more dangerous incident when additional oil began feeding the fire.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our mutual-aid departments who responded and worked alongside our crews. Terlton, Jennings, Peninsula and Cleveland Your support were greatly appreciated, especially under such extreme conditions.

Most importantly, we are thankful everyone made it home. Equipment can be repaired or replaced—our firefighters cannot.

What a day yesterday!
For quite some time, we’ve wanted to bring several of our neighboring fire departments together—not to respond to an emergency, but to spend time together as one fire service family. We wanted our firefighters and their families to meet, eat, laugh and have fun! Most importantly, we wanted to say thank you to the families. They sacrifice so much every time their loved one leaves the dinner table, misses a holiday, or gets called out in the middle of the night to help someone in need. Their support, patience, and understanding are what make volunteer fire departments possible. Attending yesterday was North 48, Terlton and Cleveland Fire Departments.
As the saying goes, “Brotherhood isn’t built by the fires we fight—it’s built by the trust we earn, the sacrifices we share, and the promise that no firefighter stands alone.”
That couldn’t be more true. In the volunteer fire service, that brotherhood runs even deeper. Our members willingly leave their families, their jobs, and their personal lives—without expecting a paycheck—to answer the call for their neighbors. It’s a commitment rooted in service, loyalty, and community.
As fire chiefs and leaders, one of our greatest responsibilities is fostering that brotherhood. It isn’t created by a title or a uniform. It’s built every day through training together, serving together, respecting one another, and making sure everyone goes home safely after every call.
Thank you to every department that joined us and to every family who spent the day with us. We hope this is just the beginning of an annual tradition that continues to strengthen the friendships, partnerships, and brotherhood that make our fire service so special.

Our insurance company says our pond has to go… so we’re looking for your dirt!
If you have fill dirt, rock, broken concrete, or other suitable fill material that you need to get rid of, we’ll gladly take it.
We’re looking for dump truck owners, contractors, excavation companies, or anyone with excess fill.

Well, it looks like there are still quite a few families in the community that are still without power. So In coordination with Terlton Community Volunteer Fire Department we are also offering our Station as a charging station and for those of you that have electric hot water tanks We are offering our shower facility again. If you are wanting to use the charging facility at Terlton please get ahold of Megan or if you’d like to use our charging facility or showers please give us a call, text or message on here and we’ll schedule it. We just wanted to lend a hand to our neighbors to the west. And yes, this is a ChatGPT image. I’m just not that good with making these things so I had to cheat and I know we’re all tired of seeing them ! 😂

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

As we celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day, we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday with family and friends.
Unfortunately, severe weather is expected to move into our area later today. Please keep a close eye on forecasts from your local weather sources and be prepared to seek shelter if conditions worsen.
If you’re spending the day on the lake, pay extra close attention to the weather. Storms can develop quickly, bringing dangerous lightning, high winds, and rough water. If you hear thunder or see storms approaching, head to shore immediately.
Have a fun and safe Fourth of July, and let’s all do our part to make sure everyone gets home safely. 🇺🇸🎆

Yep… that’s a fire hydrant in there.
Believe it or not, we’ve found several this week that were hiding in the grass and brush.
After this past week’s water outage, we’re asking everyone to help us out. If you have a fire hydrant near your home or property, please keep the grass and brush cleared around it—about 20 feet if possible.
It helps us find hydrants faster during emergencies, helps prevent damage to the hydrant by being visible and makes it easier to spot damage before it becomes a bigger problem. Post before and after pictures and the location for your chance to win a gift card.

Yesterday at 5:43 we received a call of a semi on fire at mile marker 56. Crews responded and were on scene in 10 mins, and found that the rear dual tires were on fire of a transport tank. Crews made quick work of the fire and brought the fire under control quickly. Always working alongside the highway is always dangerous but yesterday there seem to be a very large percentage of vehicles that had no regard for our crews safety. Multiple semi’s and passenger vehicles flew past us as we were operating on this fire. When you’re on the roadway and you see emergency vehicles, please treat it as your families out there working and slow down and move to the Lane as farthest away from the incident .
