Det 218's last, but not least, Field Training 2026 graduate earned his Prop & Wings on 19 August! Congrats Cadet Armstrong and welcome to the Professional Officer Corps! We look forward to seeing you tackle your new cadet wing leadership duties this fall.

On 22 July, Cadets Chapman, Langhi, and Willis completed Maxwell 4 and graduated Field Training, earning their Prop & Wings and marking their entrance into the Professional Officer Course! We look forward to them taking on leadership positions in the 218th Cadet Wing this fall as they start the next chapter of their officer training.

On 24 June, Cadet Bolin and Cadet Miller graduated AFROTC Field Training 2026, having completed a rigorous 21 days at Maxwell 2, earning their Prop and Wings and entering into the Professional Officer Course of the ROTC program. They have embarked on the next stage of their officer training and we look forward to seeing them perform in leadership positions in the 218th Cadet Wing at the start of the Fall semester.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: 2d Lt Anna Hagen | ISU Class of 2024

The first of our Alumni Spotlight series features 2d Lt Anna Hagen, who is currently a student Combat Systems Officer (CSO) at NAS Pensacola!

I am the senior ranking officer for my class. I lead a group of 19 people every day and if I hadn’t taken the opportunities in ROTC to develop that skill, I’d be lost.”

From 26-29 March, Det 218 hosted cadets from Dets 017, 190, 215, and 785, at Camp Atterbury, IN for their annual deployment exercise, Operation VALIANT DEFENSE II. During the first two days of the exercise, underclassmen cadets processed a deployment line, deployed into theater, conducted reception, staging, onward movement, & integration (RSOI), and top-off tactical training with their new teammates. On Day 3 they executed deployed operations to defend the simulated country of Gorgas from Donovian aggression and then redeployed back to home campuses on Day 4. Upperclassmen cadets managed the exercise, running White Cell, safety, logistics, evaluations, and OPFOR duties. It was a successful and rewarding event and we extend a big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!
