Today’s announcement from Thyssenkrupp Presta North America is difficult news for the hardworking employees and families impacted here in Vigo County. We appreciate the company’s investment in our community over the years and thank them for the jobs they provided.

Vigo County is not going to sit idle. We will be working aggressively alongside local and regional partners to assist in marketing and selling this facility as quickly as possible so we can attract new opportunities, new investment, and most importantly — get Vigo County residents back to work.

ThyssenKrupp Presta North America plans to close its production site in Terre Haute by March 31, 2027, according to a Friday afternoon news release from the company.

Good news for Indiana and our military assets.

Good news for Indiana and our military assets.

State Rep. Stephen Bartels, a veteran, is ready to lead the Indiana Defense Task Force, which works to strengthen military installations and support local defense businesses.

Impressive!

Impressive!

We've previously mentioned work being done under I-70 in Vigo Co. at the 7.4-mile marker to remove a bridge over an old, abandoned railroad.

Crews have begun work and have installed this massive box culvert, which can be fully captured only from the sky! 😮👀✈️

More updates are to come on this project and when motorists can expect lane closures.

This year marks the 75th annual observance of the National Day or Prayer. The theme this year is “Glorify God Among the Nations - Seeking Him in All Generations.” I was honored to offer a prayer at the Wabash Valley Youth for Christ National Day of Prayer Breakfast.

Heavenly Father,

Today we come before You with grateful hearts for Vigo County - for our communities, our families, our businesses, our schools, our churches, and the people who call this place home. We thank You for the blessings You have poured out on our county and for the opportunity to serve one another.

Lord, we ask for Your guidance over our leaders at every level - our elected officials, first responders, teachers, pastors, and community servants. Grant them wisdom to make good decisions, courage to stand for what is right, and humility to always put people before politics.

We pray for unity in a time when division can so easily take hold. Help us to treat one another with kindness, respect, and compassion, even when we disagree. Remind us that we are stronger when we work together for the good of our community.

We ask Your protection over the citizens of Vigo County. Watch over our children, strengthen struggling families, comfort those facing hardship, and bring hope to those who feel discouraged.

May we continue to be a county built on faith, service, hard work, and love for our neighbors. Guide us forward with purpose and peace.

In Your name we pray, Amen.

Thank you, Tim Ramseier, for your selfless dedication to our community for so many years! It was awesome to watch high school kids pray over our community this morning. Very touching experience.

Welcome back, Kevin!

One of the most rewarding things about this job is joining our crews as they deal with severe weather. It could be early preparation for a winter storm, filling sandbags to deal with flooding, or simply moving trees to open county roads.

We will be dealing with flash flooding and minimal flooding through the night and tomorrow morning. Watch for “Road Closed” signs and please seek an alternate route. Report fallen trees to Vigo County Dispatch non-emergency line (812) 232-3801. BE SAFE

Update: Power has been restored to the Darwin Road area.

I wanted to see for myself before posting. Yes, a tree has snapped a pole on South Thorpe Place in West Terre Haute. Terrible timing as West Vigo has a track meet scheduled with multiple other schools. The track meet IS HAPPENING. South Thorpe Place will be closed from National Avenue to to West Sarah Myers for the foreseeable future. Use Old Paris Road if you can. It could be several hours before Duke has power restored. God bless those men and women who work hard for us.

It’s been years since the Vigo County Courthouse stone has been properly washed. Today we saw a drone reach areas that have been significantly ignored for decades. Glad to see proactive budgeting and scheduling to get this accomplished.
