City Meeting at Hall Wednesday 4/14 at 4 pm.
The city is holding a public meeting about pocket parks as there will be one or more in the vicinity of the hall. The public is invited.

The pocket park or "parkettes" initiative began with a simple but powerful question posed by Terre Haute’s Urban Forester, Ana Maria Erazo Galeano:

Deepest Condolences in the passing of long time member Kay French. (Thanks to Dot for the write-up)
Ellen "Kay" French
MAY 31, 1947 — MARCH 8, 2026
Ellen “Kay” French, 78, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Springhill Village. She was born on May 31, 1947, in Terre Haute, to Phillip and Martha O’Donnel Love.
Kay is survived by her siblings: Mick Love (Leanna) of Terre Haute; John Love (Kathy) of Terre Haute, Rita Dodd of Terre Haute, Penny Robinson (Jim) of Terre haute, Kevin Craft (Carla) of Shelbyville, Sue Hicks of Terre Haute, and Charles Craft (Stephanie) of Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews; and her life-long best friend, Alice Ormsby.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William French; and a brother, Rick Craft.
Kay worked for many years at CBS and later at ResCare.
She was a member of the Hungarian Hall and volunteered at the Special Olympics every year.
The matriarch of the family, Kay raised her five youngest siblings after their mother died. She kept track of everyone in the family and enjoyed reconnecting at the family reunions.
Kay was a fantastic cook and her pigs in a blanket, macaroni salad, and potato salad are treasured recipes that her family will recreate in her memory. She was an avid bingo player. Kay also enjoyed listening to gospel quartet music, travelling with her cousin, Marcella, to hear their favorite quartet as often as she could.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will take place in New Harmony Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Indiana.

Our condolences go out to the family of member John Boyke. He was our lawn care provider and assisted in getting the sidewalk in front of the hall repaved and the driveway stone placed. He always enjoyed our stuffed cabbage as well. Rest in Peace!

View John Martin Boyke's obituary, send flowers and sign the guestbook.
