Vigo County Emcom Vigo County EmCom is a Emergency Communications group that works with our local EMA, K9 SAR, Wabash Valley Red Cross and Vigo Co. Sheriff's Department.

Vigo County EmCom is a Volunteer Emergency Communication group of amateur radio operators working with the local emergency service agency and local authority's to help provide communication in a disaster. We also are working with CERT as well as Task Force 7

Thunderstorms in one or more broken lines will move E-SE across central Indiana through midnight. Some of these storms may be severe with wind gusts to 60 mph. Otherwise, locally heavy rainfall (up to 1 inch in an hour) along with cloud to ground lightning can be expected.

There is a chance of storms moving into central Indiana tomorrow. Embedded severe storms will be possible late tomorrow afternoon through midnight, with showers and storms potentially continuing past midnight.

A Flood Watch is in effect for the northern half of central Indiana from 2 PM today to 8 AM Thursday. The potential for heavy rain on saturated soils will result in an elevated flash flooding threat. Never drive through flooded roads.

* Ensure you have multiple ways to receive warning notifications day and night.

Another day with a risk for strong to severe storms. Showers and storms this morning will be marginally severe with better chances for severe storms this evening through tonight.

Increasing concern for heavy rainfall overnight tonight as prolonged stretches of thunderstorms could repeatedly move over the same areas, leading to rapidly rising water and flash flooding. Areas that received heavy rainfall Tuesday night and Wednesday — including Muncie, Anderson, New Castle, Rushville and surrounding communities — will be especially vulnerable to rapid-onset flooding. Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts tonight. If you encounter a flooded roadway, Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Stay weather-aware and be prepared to act quickly if flooding develops near you.

Heavy rain and multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected later today into tonight, bringing an elevated risk for flash flooding across central Indiana.

A Moderate Risk (Level 3 of 4) for excessive rainfall is in effect for areas including Indianapolis, Kokomo, Muncie, and Lafayette, alongside a regional Flood Watch active through Friday morning. Heavy rain rates can quickly inundate roads, creeks, and low-lying areas.

If you must travel tonight, remember: Turn Around Don't Drown. Never drive through covered roadways or around barricades, and have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight.

The flooding threat continues today along with the potential for severe weather, primarily for damaging wind gusts. Isolated large hail remains possible as well. Turn around, don't drown!

Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected today. This first round has been ongoing with some additional development north of Delphi and Kokomo. This will pose some severe risk over the next couple hours. The second round is currently over the Quad Cities area and is expected to move SE towards central Indiana, reaching the area this afternoon. Stay weather aware today!

Scattered thunderstorms will develop this evening and continue overnight. More numerous storms are expected Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening and again Wednesday. Severe storms are possible, especially on Tuesday. Damaging winds and heavy rain are the primary threats, but isolated tornadoes and large hail are also possible. Be weather aware into Wednesday!
