It’s 4-H Friday Member Spotlight time! Today we want to recognize Audrey Reinoehl and her Dignity in a Duffle Project.
Dignity in a Duffle is a youth-led service project that supports teenagers entering foster care by providing duffle bags filled with essentials, comfort items, and encouragement. It’s an amazing way to help make a difficult transition a little easier while showing kids they are cared for and not alone.
Hi everyone! My name is Audrey Reinoehl, and I am excited to share my community service project, “Dignity in a Duffle.”
This project supports teenagers entering foster care by providing duffle bags filled with essential and comfort items. Too often, when teens are removed from unsafe homes, they leave with their belongings in trash bags during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
With the help of my 4-H club, Homeschool Co-Op and many others, we will assemble duffle bags containing hygiene items, journals, fidget tools, and a note of encouragement. Each bag will also be left mostly empty so teens have space for their own belongings.
Our goal is simple: to replace trash bags with something that offers dignity, comfort, and the reminder that their community cares about them.
Thank you for supporting this project and helping us make a difference for youth entering foster care. Follow our journey as we serve the teens of my county in Indiana and beyond.
