The Prairieton United Methodist Church and Prairieton Fire Department Annual 4th of July Bike Parade & Celebration was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to plan, organize, and bring this event to life. And thank you to our amazing community for continuing to show up, participate, and have fun with us year after year.

We’re already working on a couple more events for later this year — stay tuned for updates!

We would like to extend a huge shout out and thank you to the guys from Honey Creek Fire Department for the assist on yesterday morning structure fire. We are grateful for having such a wonderful working relationship between the departments!

On Sunday our Hazmat Operations class to got to experience first hand how bulky and big a hazmat suit is. Thank you to Otter Creek Fire Department for letting us borrowing the suits to practice in.

Just a few more days until the annual parade/celebration….. come out and participate in parade and be sure to decorate your ride and wear Red/White/Blue- in addition to parade prizes we will be giving tickets away for various things that you will be able to use in the drawings to win several donated baskets/items … few pics included - we will also have a 20” Bicycle, tickets to Cole Swindell on 7/9 at the Mill, food gift cards & more!!

The thoughts and prayers of the Prairieton Fire Department are with our Trans-Care family 🤍

Some stories remind us exactly why what we do matters.

This week, one of our paramedics / EMS Instructors was on vacation with her family when the unthinkable happened — her husband, a local Vigo County Firefighter, suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of the night.

Without hesitation, she immediately began CPR and continued life-saving efforts for approximately 10 minutes until first responders arrived. Fire crews continued care, followed by advanced life support and transport for definitive treatment.

Today, because of early recognition, immediate CPR, rapid emergency response, and early ALS intervention — he is alive.

Moments like this reinforce a message we share every day: early CPR saves lives.

This event also left a lasting impression on their children. One of their children was already CPR certified and witnessed firsthand how those skills matter. Now, their other two children have asked to become CPR certified as well — turning a traumatic moment into a powerful reminder that anyone can be prepared to save a life.

We are incredibly proud of our paramedic for staying calm under unimaginable circumstances and for putting her training into action when her family needed her most.

Please continue to keep this family in your thoughts as they focus on recovery and healing.
