NEWS RELEASE - Voyeurism Arrest

On April 13, 2026, the Plymouth Police Department arrested Samuel E. Rodriguez, age 53, of Terryville, Connecticut, with five counts of Voyeurism in violation Connecticut General Statutes 53a-189a

The investigation began in May of 2023 after a resident reported finding a hidden camera inside a bathroom. The investigation determined that Rodriguez had secretly installed two covert recording devices in areas of the home where residents and guests had a reasonable expectation of privacy. The devices, disguised as a Bluetooth speaker and an air purifier, were configured to send Rodriguez alerts when individuals entered the bathroom or a bedroom, enabling him to view, record, and photograph them without their knowledge.

A Superior Court Judge authorized a search warrant allowing officers to seize cameras, phones, and computers belonging to Rodriguez. An examination of these devices revealed multiple images and videos of individuals in various stages of undress who were unaware they were being recorded.

Rodriguez was taken into custody, processed, and held on a $200,000 bond. He appeared in Superior Court on April 14, 2026.

The Plymouth Police Department recognizes the significant emotional impact this type of crime can have on the affected family and the broader community. We remain committed to supporting the victims, safeguarding their privacy, and ensuring a thorough and transparent investigative process.

The Plymouth Police Department also encourages the public to remain vigilant regarding unfamiliar or outofplace electronic devices in private areas of homes, rental properties, or businesses. Anyone who discovers suspicious equipment or believes they may have been recorded without consent is urged to contact the Plymouth Police Department immediately. Public awareness and timely reporting play an important role in preventing and identifying these types of offenses.
