Last week Assistant Chief Stephen Baca was burned while working on a gas line.
As will always happen, stories flew through our community like, well....wildfire. I can safely say that EVERYONE in the Santa Fe County Fire Department was concerned and wanted to know everything they could about our Brother. Captain Jaffa sent this note via email.
"As most of you know Pojoaque Asst. District Chief Stephen Baca was seriously burned last Wednesday due to a natural gas explosion as he worked on a gas line for NM Gas Co.
After discussing things with Stephen’s family I have offered to maintain a web page where friends can go to get updates on his condition and/or leave comments for him and his family.
This web page is now up and with the family’s assistance I will post updates as they are available and approved by the family.
This will be a good way for everyone to stay up to date and send their well wishes without calling the family and adding to their already huge stress level.
The site is – www.carepages.com/stephenbaca "

You will need to sign up to see the page. Note>> enterChief Baca's name as one word, stephenbaca .

Keep Stephen in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thank you Captain Jaffa,

Asst Chief
T. Kern Hicks

Borrowed from Mike Jaffa Mike Jaffa

Plucked from a friend: "You're a firefighter? I wanted to do that when I was a kid, what do you make? What do I make? I make holding your hand seem like the biggest thing in the world when I'm cutting you out of what used to look like your car. I can make 5 minutes feel like a lifetime when I disappear into a burning house looking for your family. I can make those annoying sirens sound like angels singing when your child's not breathing. I can make a second chance for you after your heart attack. I can make myself get out of bed at 3am to go risk my life for you although I've never met you, and I don't need nor expect your thanks. I make a difference. What do you make?

The PDF sheet showing Carbon Monoxide Detectors.

10/06/2011

It's smoke alarm season again. Twice each year we need to change the batteries in the smoke detector. If you don't have one today, go out tomorrow and get one, PLEASE! A carbon monoxide detector is also a really good thing to have. Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless and called the silent killer.
Thank You,
