Hillman Energy Center, LLC has formally withdrawn its application for the proposed 125MW battery energy storage facility at 73-75 Hillman Street in Tewksbury, MA.

In a motion filed with the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB Docket 26-02) on September 1, 2026, Hillman cited results from the ISO-NE Transitional Cluster Study showing grid interconnection upgrade costs "greatly exceeded previous estimates," making the project "economically unviable". The company has pulled the project from the interconnection queue entirely. It appears that this ISO-NE systemic cost trend is not unique to Tewksbury and other projects in the State have also been informed about higher-than-expected costs for interconnection upgrades.

The Market runs from 4pm to 7pm every Thursday in June, July, August and September.
Please note the Market has more than 70 vendors, including food trucks, farms, prepared foods, artisans & crafters, and community non-profits. The market’s lineup changes each week, with 25-30 vendors featured.
While visiting the Market, take advantage of Livingston Park’s amenities, including a splash pad, playground, skate park, tennis courts (with pickleball lines!), basketball courts, ball fields, exercise court, pavilion, and free little library.
There are five parking lots near the Market, including across the street near the football fields and next to the playground. A limited number of marked handicap parking are located in the small parking lot in front of the Recreation Center.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT REMINDER – CHANGE IN TRAFFIC PATTERN 🚨

The Town of Tewksbury Department of Public Works would like to remind motorists of an upcoming change in the traffic pattern at the intersection of Whipple Road and Pine Street.

Tonight, Monday, August 17, at approximately 9:00 PM, crews will be painting new pavement markings at the intersection.

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, August 18, the new traffic signs will be unbagged and the intersection will be converted to All-Way Stop Control (AWSC). Once the conversion is complete, traffic on all four approaches will be required to come to a complete stop before proceeding through the intersection.

Motorists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the intersection following the conversion. It may take some time for drivers to become accustomed to the new traffic pattern. Please remain alert, obey all traffic control devices, and watch for other motorists and pedestrians.
