Food & Nutrition Services Professional Development Field Trip

On Friday, our Food & Nutrition Services staff had the opportunity to visit the Black Earth Composting site in Manchester-by-the-Sea as part of our professional development program.

Tewksbury Public Schools is proud to participate in back-of-the-house composting in every school kitchen, working directly with Black Earth Compost to help reduce food waste and support environmental sustainability. Seeing the composting process firsthand gave our team a deeper understanding of how our efforts in the kitchens make a real impact.

It was definitely a cold day and not exactly a glamorous trip, but it was incredibly interesting and provided valuable information about the composting process and the important role we all play in making it successful.

A big thank you to Black Earth Compost for hosting our team and helping us continue to strengthen our sustainability efforts! ♻️
