I have received numerous phone calls, emails and Facebook messages concerning if I would support a data center in Texarkana, Arkansas, the answer is NO! Below are a few reasons why.

Resource Depletion: Data centers consume massive amounts of electricity and water, which can trigger utility rate hikes, compromise local power grid stability, and drain municipal aquifers.

Land-Use Conflicts: Massive, windowless warehouses occupy large tracts of land that cities could otherwise utilize for mixed-use development, affordable housing, or retail.
Minimal Job Creation: Despite sprawling footprints, data centers generate very few permanent, local jobs while increasing noise and industrial traffic.

Displacement of Opportunity: They contribute less to the local tax base per square foot compared to commercial or residential projects and often require significant tax subsidies.

Noise Pollution: Continuous, loud humming from industrial cooling fans and HVAC systems often runs 24/7, disturbing nearby neighborhoods.

Air Emissions: Emergency backup diesel generators emit high levels of nitrogen oxides and fine particulates, worsening local air quality and health risks like asthma

Tax Subsidies: Local and state governments frequently grant millions of dollars in tax breaks to multi-trillion-dollar tech companies, shifting the financial burden onto local taxpayers.

A data center would not be good for our community.

πŸŽ“πŸš” WELCOME TO THE TAPD FAMILY πŸš”πŸŽ“

Today, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department had the privilege of attending the graduation ceremony at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy, where we proudly welcomed three of our newest officers into the profession.

Please join us in congratulating:

⭐ Officer Ethan Price
⭐ Officer Lawson Wright
⭐ Officer Koda Wrinkle

Over the past 14 weeks, these officers have dedicated themselves to mastering the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required to serve the citizens of Texarkana with honor and integrity.

We are especially proud to recognize Officer Ethan Price and Officer Koda Wrinkle, who were selected by academy staff to serve as Squad Leaders throughout the academy. This distinction reflects their outstanding leadership, teamwork, character, and commitment to excellence.

Their journey is just beginning. The next step will take them into our Field Training Program, where they will continue developing the skills necessary to become exceptional police officers.

Congratulations, Officers Price, Wright, and Wrinkle. We are proud to have you on our team and look forward to watching each of you make a lasting impact on our department and the community we proudly serve.

Welcome to the familyβ€”and stay safe.
