We always love an opportunity to help our friends at Tri-State Iron & Metal Company do the job once and do it right.
Although our event has been postponed, we want to take time to thank all of our sponsors now because now is the perfect time to show gratitude for our local community partners who help us fulfill our mission of providing hope, healing and justice to abused and neglected children throughout our community. We're all stronger when we work together.

JEERS to TRI-STATE IRON & METAL COMPANY! Today I did my annual aluminum can recycling and went there to cash them in. Apparently if you have more than 4 bags they require you to drive over the scales and weigh in, drive around back and unload, drive back over the scales to weigh again and they subtract the difference in weight and pay you accordingly. Well I noticed while I was weighing in the 1st time that the scale was fluctuating CONTINUOUSLY, anywhere from 20 to 80, to 100lbs. difference. After I unloaded I noticed the scale leaving was not fluctuating at all, perfectly still. When I went in to collect my money they just so happen to have the weight of my transaction at EXACTLY 100 lbs., not 102 or 97 or whatever. I asked how they could be sure those scales were accurate and they said they have them calibrated every month. I’m sure this is true, but how EXACT are they? She says within 20 lbs. My point is that when it’s a big rig hauling cars and the total weight is over 100,000 lbs. I’m sure 20 lbs is nothing. But when your total transaction is “100” lbs, 20 lbs is A LOT. Like 20% A LOT. I believe I was cheated out of my money, and not just by 20 lbs. I don’t think that “fluctuating” scale captures my TRUE weight. The going rate is $0.52 per pound. With those scales being off by “as much as 20lbs”, I’m out at least $10 on a $60 transaction. It may be small potatoes to some of you high rollers, but it’s the PRINCIPLE...and the fact that this goes on ALL DAY, vehicle after vehicle.
