Not just today, but every day we will #HonorThem...the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Photo info: More than 1,000 Old Guard Soldiers place 250,000 U.S. flags at Arlington National Cemetery. For more than 50 years, this tradition known as Flags-In occurs just prior to #MemorialDay to honor our nation’s fallen military heroes.

Did you know Red River has a Veterans Honors Park? Located on what now is TexAmericas’ property, the honor park was first constructed in 1987 to honor all past, present and future Veterans. The initial idea for the park came as part of a depot beautification project. At the time of the original park’s dedication, the depot also paid homage to the Bicentennial of the Constitution. The top photo shows the park in 1987 soon after construction was finished. On the bottom is the honor park in recent months. #FlashbackFriday

Take a moment to watch GEN Perna’s latest message to the entire AMC team.

In GEN Gus Perna’s latest video to the workforce on #COVID19, he answers a few of the questions he’s received: “When will this end,” “How do you see us transitioning back into normal operations,” and “How can I help?” He also gets personal with an update on how he’s practicing social distancing including at-home haircuts and internet shopping.

“I encourage you all to stay calm and stay in pace with the guidance we are getting. I have confidence our Army leaders are thinking through this, and I have confidence in you to maintain our three priorities.” - GEN Perna.

#TeamRedRiver would like to give special thanks to Mayo Manufacturing for generously donating 10,000+ masks to our employees! We want to extend our gratitude for their efforts to help keep our team members safe. Plan moving forward is to get those masks into the hands of our employees ASAP! We will be utilizing our Union and Labor Contract Officials to help get those distributed as quickly as possible. Team members should understand we are still awaiting guidance from the Department of the Army on our way forward with facial coverings. We hope to hear something in a couple days. In the meantime, another shout out Mayo Manufacturing!!

**Team members should understand that these face coverings will not prevent you from contracting the virus but they will potentially prevent each wearer from spreading the virus if they are unknowingly infected.

How to Make Your own Face Covering

#TeamRedRiver is supportive of the CDC's recent recommendation and is encouraging all of our team members to use a cloth face covering when work situations prevent us being able to maintain a minimum of six feet of social distancing. Please understand these face coverings will not prevent you from contracting the virus, but they will potentially prevent the wearer from accidentally spreading the virus if they are unknowingly infected.

A portion of TACOM Commanding General MG Dan Mitchell’s latest message to the entire TACOM workforce.

“In order for you to do your mission, you need to stay healthy. Commanders and leaders at all levels are charged with balancing risk with mission. They have the guidance and latitude to make the decisions to keep you safe so you can continue with your vital mission. You need to do your part too, at home and at work. Thus, our priorities are: protect the workforce, continue to maintain readiness, and support the nation in fighting the virus.”

Mitchell went on to echo SECDEF Esper’s message, “We have a job to do, and we will continue to do it.”

Happy Friday. Before you begin your weekend - take a moment to read the latest message from Maj. Gen. Dan Mitchell, Commanding General, TACOM. In his message he states "Our Army is in motion, deterring adversaries, fighting terrorism, drug cartels, and COVID-19 and they depend on you to stay in motion."

He adds "I remember when I was the Commander of RRAD, our motto was, "Build it as if our lives depend on it -- Theirs Do!" that was a good motto then and now."

General Mitchell ends the message with a thank you and call to stay safe. To read the entire message visit the Detroit Arsenal COVID-19 webpage at https://tacom.army.mil/covid19

RRAD’s Annual Forestry Competition is open to Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters and Head, Heart, Hands and Health (4-H) clubs from throughout the region. Teams are comprised of three or four members with scoring determined by combining scores of the top three students from each team.

This year the depot welcomed 127 participants representing 19 high school FFA chapters and two 4-H clubs.

Congratulations to Avery FFA who took home first place for the second consecutive year. New Boston FFA received second place while Cass County Hope 4H claimed third place. The high point individual was awarded to Jacob Sanders of New Boston FFA. Awards were presented by Chief of Staff Mike Lockard, DPW Director Ricky Webster and Environmental Division Chief Joe Thrash.

In order to keep performing our critical mission, we must remain committed to being as safe as possible. Social distancing is a must at every point of the day (i.e. on the production floor, while taking breaks, grocery shopping, etc.) Let's do our part to stop the spread of the virus. #TeamRedRiver

03/24/2020

The health protection of our team and your families is our top priority. We continually encourage all personnel to follow the guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We'd like to take a moment to remind our team members to practice social distancing, which includes not making unnecessary visits to other work areas on depot. If you do not have official business to conduct within an area, please do not visit an area other than the one you are assigned. Remember, if you are feeling sick, please call your supervisor for requesting leave and if approved, without mission impact, remain home.

03/20/2020

RRAD is committed to the continued safety of its employees, contractors and family members. In doing so, we would ask any employee who isn't feeling well to call their supervisor for leave purposes and remain home. We should not forget that in addition to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are still in the throws of cold and flu season whose symptoms mirror very closely to what we're seeing with COVID-19. The entire team at Red River echos and fully supports all the precautionary measures published by the CDC. We are happy to see that people are taking this guidance seriously, however, we're still seeing people come in that don't feel well. While RRAD still has no confirmed cases, we cannot emphasize enough the importance of maintaining contact with your supervisor, staying home when you don't feel well and to seek medical care should your condition worsen. Remember - Our Employees are our most important asset!!

03/20/2020

The health, safety and security of our workforce and your families is our top priority. We are continually working closely with our higher commands to find ways to better support each of you through this pandemic. Though we understand the frustration and concern that COVID-19 has caused, we must not lose focus of our mission.

Please continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. You are encouraged to use the official resources provided below.

People First. Mission Always.

FYI for everyone in the Texarkana area.

BOIL ORDER IN EFFECT

The City of Texarkana Texas has issued a boil order for any water used for drinking or cooking until further notice. Boiling water for 1 minute should be sufficient. There is no need to worry about water used for other purposes, such as bathing.

Once the water pressure returns to normal later today, we will begin testing to ensure that the water quality remains at the normal high levels.

We anticipate that the boil order will remain in effect for at least 24 hours.

Today's #ThrowbackThursday takes a trip back to 2012 and 2015 when Red River achieved Voluntary Protection Program Merit and Star Status, respectively. #TeamRedRiver was the first to achieve both ratings within the Tank-automotive and Armaments Command. Our team is currently being reevaluated for Star Status and will soon learn the official results.

#TeamRedRiver sends a huge congratulations to Megan Harless who has been named a Top 18 finalist for the 2020 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year Award (AFI MSOY). Harless is currently stationed here with her husband, Aaron, who serves as the depot's Operations Officer.

"It is an honor to be a military spouse and to continue to serve our military community even after my time of wearing the uniform is over," said Harless.

Megan is now in consideration of being named overall winner of the AFI MSOY. After a final vote conducted on March 3-4, the overall winner will be unveiled at an awards dinner on May 7 at The Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA, in conjunction with National Military Spouse Appreciation Day, which occurs on May 8.

Now in its 13th year honoring the unwavering dedication of our nation's more than 1.1 million military spouses, Armed Forces Insurance is proud to recognize the sacrifice and reward the change of military spouses from all six branches of the Armed Forces who are inspiring others and having a tangible, measurable effect on their communities.
