Position: Debt Coordinator
The Debt Coordinator will work with the general public, taxpayers, veterans, abstract companies, real estate offices, appraisers, banks, mortgage companies, Miller County Assessor’s Office, Miller County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, State Land Commissioners Office, US Bankruptcy court, attorneys, county employees, and Elected Officials either in person, by phone, mail, email, or fax.
This position includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities: will need to learn and know Arkansas Code and laws governing delinquent and current personal and real estate taxes, DAV laws, special taxes, County Policy and the Collector’s Office Policy. The Debt Coordinator is responsible for handling all claims with US Bankruptcy Court, paperwork and maintaining up to date files and computer records for all Chapter 7, 11 & 13 bankruptcies that are in Miller County. Must know the state/federal laws pertaining to bankruptcies. This position is also responsible for handling all probate cases in the office. This includes using the local newspaper to locate Probate Legal Notices, working with the Miller County Assessor’s office to obtain current calendar year values on personal property that were assessed in the current year, filing the claim with the Miller County Clerk’s office, and notifying the attorney (or whomever is handling the probate) about the claim. The Debt Coordinator is also responsible for filing the paperwork with the County Clerk’s office once the claim has been released due to payment.
The right candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Must be a fast learner and able to multitask. Excellent payment processing and money handling experience. Must have ability to assess and review taxpayer statements/issues accurately. Must be willing to travel to continuing education classes, Collector’s meetings, vendor training classes, and other Collector offices for training.
