I’m happy to share that House Bill 1103 has passed and is now on its way to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.

This bill increases the homestead property tax credit from $600 to $675, offering a little more relief to homeowners across our communities. The change will take effect on January 1, 2027.

I’m grateful to see this step forward in helping Arkansas families and supporting homeowners.

Tax statements are starting to arrive in mailboxes, and with that usually comes a lot of questions. To help save you a little time and wondering, I wanted to address a few of the most common ones.

1. Does my tax statement include the 2.5 millage increase that was voted on and passed (city road bond)?
No. The 2.5 millage increase will not appear on this year’s statement. It will be reflected on next year’s tax statement.

2. What is the Late Assess penalty on my statement?
The Late Assess penalty is a 10 percent penalty added by the Assessor’s Office when personal property was not assessed by the May 31 deadline.

3. Why did I receive a statement for the house I live in if I rent and do not own it?
If you rent your home, the statement you received is for your personal property tax. This includes items such as cars, trucks, boats, and other taxable personal property.

If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are always happy to help.

Property Tax Statements Have Been Mailed! When you receive yours, please take a few minutes to look it over carefully.

Please make sure all of your property is listed and the information shown is correct. If you purchased new property make sure it is listed. If your mortgage company collects taxes on your behalf that real estate will not be listed on your statement.

Make sure you are receiving your homestead exemption if you are living in the home you own.

If you notice anything that needs to be corrected or if something doesn’t look right, please give our office a call. We’re happy to help and want to make sure everything is accurate.
