September is here! Check out the Southwest Center and Collins Center calendar for this month’s activities, classes, schedule changes, and special events.

A few important dates to remember:
• Southwest Center will be closed Saturday, September 5 and Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.
• Collins Center will be closed Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.
• Join us Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 PM for the Grand Opening of the new pickleball courts!

We’ve had a busy few weeks at the Collins Senior Center!

Our seniors enjoyed Bingo with Brookdale Senior Living, another fun round of Bingo with Texas Health & Human Services and Texas STAR+PLUS, and a Lunch & Learn with Texarkana Funeral Homes.

A big thank you to each of these community partners for taking the time to visit with our seniors and help make these activities possible. We appreciate your continued support of the Collins Senior Center and our community!

🎉 Introducing Heather Caroway! 🎉

As we say thank you to Greta for an incredible year and a half of Barre and Pound, we’re excited to welcome Heather Caroway to our Southwest Center fitness community!

Heather will be taking over Greta’s Tuesday & Thursday 9:00 AM time slot with a brand-new all-abilities cardio and movement class: “Move With Me!” 💪❤️

Whether you’re just getting started, looking for a fun way to stay active, or you’re ready to keep challenging yourself, this class is designed for ALL abilities. Come move, sweat, laugh, and enjoy being part of our community!

💖 Thank You, Greta! 💖

For the past year and a half, Greta Sexton has poured so much time, energy, and heart into teaching our free community Barre and POUND classes!

What started small quickly became something so much bigger. These classes became a part of our weekly routines, a place where we built friendships, found accountability, got stronger, laughed at ourselves, and cheered each other on. 💪😊

Greta, thank you for creating a space where women could come together, move our bodies, challenge ourselves, and most importantly, have FUN! You have made such a positive impact on so many of us, and we are incredibly grateful for every class, every encouragement, and every laugh along the way.

Some ladies joined us for a season, while others have been there from day one, but every person has been a special part of this fitness journey. 💕

Thank you, Greta, for showing up for us week after week and sharing your passion with our community. We are stronger because of you and we'll miss you tremendously! 🥹

There will be 2 divisions, below 3.0 and intermediate. It will include singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles ($25 per event). This is a non-DUPR rated tournament. There will be raffles, food trucks, and medals. Come out and have a fun day on the courts to support a great cause!

Texas High Cross Country is Coming to Spring Lake Park!

Spring Lake Park will host two days of cross country events on Thursday, September 3 and Friday, September 4, 2026.

On Thursday, Texas High Cross Country will host middle school races and a 1-Mile Fun Run for children in 6th grade and below. The Fun Run is $5 per runner and will take place near the Splash Pad.

On Friday, runners will return to Spring Lake Park for the 4th Annual Pat Daniels Invitational, featuring varsity and junior varsity teams competing throughout the morning.

Visitors to Spring Lake Park should expect increased activity, runners, spectators, and teams throughout the park during these events.

Come out and support these student-athletes and enjoy some great cross country competition right here in Texarkana!

Around here, Bingo is something worth celebrating! 🎉

We had a great time at our National Senior Day Outing at the Southwest Center, and when the winners started rolling in, so did the confetti! 🎊

Thank you to everyone who came out and made the day so much fun. We think every Bingo deserves a little celebration!
