Have you seen this fuzzy little gosling at Spring Lake Park walking around with its parents?

The geese are social but make sure to be conscious of the protective mama goose and respect their boundaries while visiting.

If you would like to feed the geese, some snacks they like include fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, and mealworms.

🚫
Some things you should NOT feed geese include white bread, junk food, fast food, chips, and anything with high levels of salt, sugar, and fat.

You can also find ducks at our parks who enjoy the same treats! 🦆 Stop by Grady T. Wallace, Karrh, or Bringle Lake Park for more water fowl to visit.

📣This is not a drill! 📣

Movies in the Park is back on and we have two Disney movies selected for your enjoyment.

Catch the Lion King on June 18th and Frozen 2 on June 25th at Spring Lake Park.

🎥 Showtime is at sunset, and don’t forget to bring a blanket and bug spray. The concession stand will also be available for those who would like to purchase snacks. 🍿

We look forward to seeing you soon.

It’s a great day to play outside and explore nature on the wilderness trail at Bringle. You never know who you’ll come across on the approximate 5.5 mile loop trail. 🐢

The playgrounds are also a great way for kids to burn off some extra energy. Bringle East has plenty of shade and a great view of the lake.

Please remember to use social distancing when biking, hiking, fishing, and any other recreation you choose when at our parks.

The weather may be iffy today, but you can still make plans to play disc golf at Spring Lake Park in the near future. 🥏

Spring Lake Park offers 3 different disc golf courses-a total of 58 holes. Players will enjoy a variety of sun, shade, benches and more as they complete the courses .

The disc golf courses are very easy to locate, across from the airplane and near the splash pad. ✈️

DIRECTIONS from MALL DRIVE (I-30 E access road) :

1️⃣Take a slight right for the park entrance from Mall Drive access road Summerhill exit ↗️

2️⃣Continue straight for approximately .5 miles ⬆️
(The splash pad will be on your left)

3️⃣ Disc Golf parking will be on the right ➡️
(If you reach the airplane on the left, you’ve gone too far)

You can also find a course directory at the parking lot to see where the holes are located within the park.

If you’re interested in finding other locals who play disc golf, check out the Texarkana Disc Golf Association Facebook group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/293909314044985/?ref=share

Please remember to still practice social distancing while playing. ↔️

Have you seen any of these plants and animals during a visit to Bringle Park recently?

The approximate 5.5 mile-long trail offers many opportunities for close encounters with animals, insects, and plants native to our area.

If you haven’t already, plan a trip down to the Wilderness trail soon. It’s also a great way to spend time with Mom on Mother’s Day!

How Social Distancing-Friendly 'Bear Hunts' Are Uniting Neighborhoods Amid Coronavirus

Looking for ways to stay connected to the community and friends ? Try going on a bear hunt !

“Taking a page from Michael Rosen’s 1989 children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, members of a number of communities across the globe are placing teddy bears and other stuffed animals in their homes’ windows to create a scavenger hunt-esque activity for kids who are stuck at home. “
