The West Point Aviation Club hosted the annual Interservice Flight Competition at the 2nd Aviation Detachment - "Wings of West Point" hangar at Stewart International Airport, New York, from April 14-16. The event, modeled on National Intercollegiate Flying Association rules, featured pilots from the Military Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Naval Academy competing in both flight and ground events.
The West Point team did extremely well in the competition taking the top overall team position, earning a Blue and Gold Star in the process. In addition, Cadet Brad Diller, Class of 2025 and Cadet Hannah Lamb, Class of 2023, came in first and second in the overall pilot category. Cadets Diller and Sam Budoff, Class of 2025, also took the top position in the navigation event, finishing only 10 seconds off their planned time after flying a cross-country flight for roughly an hour.
The flight events consist of precision landings, a cross-country navigation event, and a message drop event, while ground events included a precision simulator event, aircraft recognition test, manual flight computer test, and a flight regulations test.
Congratulations! 🇺🇸
