CASA of Galveston County

CASA of Galveston County Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASA) of Galveston County advocates for children and youth experiencing the foster care system due to abuse and neglect.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Galveston County recruit, train, and supervise community volunteers that become Guardian Ad Litems for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and help them find their voice in the court system. These volunteers are appointed by family court judges to fulfill their advocacy. To become a CASA you must be 21+, undergo a complete background check, attend 32

+ hours of training, and commit to 1 year for consistent and continued service. A CASA is a consistent presence in a child's life while working collaboratively with others involved in the case. They conduct a comprehensive family assessment and make fact based recommendations to the court via a court report. A CASA stands up for the best interest of these children in court, in the community, and in school.

Last week, 4 new CASA volunteers were officially sworn in by the Honorable Judge Rawlinson, and the most exciting part is that they have now ALL accepted their cases and begun advocating for the children they are serving! That means 4 more children/sibling groups now have a CASA volunteer in their corner! 💙

We are in need of MORE volunteers! We have upcoming training classes as well as information sessions where we can answer all your questions one-on-one. Visit casagalveston.org/volunteer for a list of upcoming training classes and info sessions!

You want to help kids who really need someone in their corner. That's what leads people to become CASA advocates.

They show up for a child and get to see their peace once they find permanency. CASA of Galveston County equips you to be that same voice.

Reach out, a child could be waiting for you.

Dzago has done exactly that since 2019, advocating for kids' best interests and their path to permanence.

CASA equips you to be that same voice. Reach out, a child could be waiting for you.

SO EXCITING! Our community partner Mac Haik Toyota did a fundraiser for CASA during July. For every car sold, CASA received a portion of the sale. Pictured is Marc Renjard, Board Treasurer, presenting the check to us, raising $17,100 for the children in the community. Thank you Marc Renjard and Mac Haik Toyota!

Advocate Supervisor, Sitinna, has launched our Child Exploitation Intervention advocacy initiatives and presented a Child Exploitation Intervention (CEI) Advocacy training to our staff and volunteers last week! Sitinna explained how we use the CEI-It Tool and what our volunteers need to know to advocate for the children they serve when it comes to child exploitation.

Real attention and love can change everything for a child. You'll feel it the moment you see how resilient kids become when someone finally listens and stays.

CASA of Galveston County equips ordinary people to become that steady voice in court for kids who need one.

You don't need a background in law or social work, just the willingness to show up for a child who needs someone in their corner.
