The ground is getting dry folks! Please use extra caution this weekend when shooting fireworks or conducting burning of any sort. It’s always a good idea to keep an emergency water supply handy.

As always, remember to call your burns in so our firefighters know where help is needed if things get out of hand!

With low chances of rain and high temperatures in the forecast, grassfire conditions will most likely begin to develop quickly. It’s time to take some time to help us help you by improving your chances of your place surviving a grassfire.

At approximately 2:30 pm today Thackerville volunteer firefighters were notified of a multi-vehicle accident on i35 at the 3mm NB involving an overturned semi resulting in a shut down of the interstate.

Volunteers arrived on-scene to assist Love County EMS/Fire , Thackerville Police Department , Love County Sheriffs Office, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol in clearing the scene.

At this time, a portion of the highway has been re-opened for traffic as ODOT and wrecker services remove the overturned semi. Please continue to use extreme caution if you’re traveling northbound on i35 and slow down for the safety of members still on scene.

We are proud to recognize firefighters Tate Reed, Seth Reed, and Captain Conner Flynn for successfully completing the first ever Firefighter I course held in our county!

A special thank you to the instructors who made this achievement possible through their dedication and expertise. We are especially proud that two of our firefighters finished in the top 10% of the class, with one earning a spot in the top two overall.
