Cancellation Notice for January 2026 Meeting:
Due to the recent heavy snowfall and in the interest of ensuring the safety of all community members, the 48th Precinct Community Council meeting scheduled for January 27, 2026, at 7:00 PM at Abraham Plaza Apartments has been canceled.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents, partners, and officers.
Commanding Officer Updates:
Our Commanding Officer, Deputy Inspector Andrew Lombardo, would like to share the following CompStat crime statistics (https://compstat.nypdonline.org), comparing Year-End 2025 to 2024:
Murder: 13 (2025) vs. 11 (2024)
R**e (classification expanded in 2025): 44% vs. 33%
Robbery: down 3.9%
Felony Assault: down 0.8%
Grand Larceny: down 0.6%
Grand Larceny Auto: down 19.4%
Shootings: down 20%
Total of 7 major felony crimes down in the 48th Precinct 4.1% in 2025, above the Citywide average.
Please note that there was a shooting at East 180th Street and Crotona Parkway. This incident remains under active investigation.
We have also seen an increase in Grand Larceny (property taken), driven by 1) vehicle break-ins where property is taken, 2) Theft of vehicle parts, and 3) self-storage unit property theft. There has been an increase in thefts of auto parts (specifically rims and tires) involving the following vehicle makes:
Kia
Honda
Hyundai
For the period of December 29 through January 25, overall crime is down -14.7% compared to the prior period.
