Another great day on the water with happy boaters! Our Vessel Exam team was out engaging with the boating public and offering free Courtesy Vessel Safety Exams to help ensure recreational boaters have the required safety equipment on board and are prepared for a safe day on the water.

These voluntary exams are an excellent opportunity to identify potential safety issues before heading out, promote safe boating practices, and help keep our waterways safe for everyone.

Congratulations to our Vice Flotilla Commander, Alec Travieso, on taking the Oath of Enlistment and officially joining the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve aboard the legendary USCGC EAGLE.

Being sworn in aboard America’s Tall Ship is a fitting beginning to this next chapter of service. Alec has already demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and we know he will bring that same professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the Coast Guard Reserve.

Your Flotilla family is incredibly proud of you and wishes you fair winds and following seas as you continue answering the call to serve.

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

While many are preparing to celebrate America’s Independence Day, our Vessel Examiner Team was out in full force supporting Operation Dry Water.

Throughout the day, our members maintained a visible presence at local marinas and boat ramps, speaking with recreational boaters, promoting safe boating practices, verifying that vessels were equipped with the required safety equipment, and sharing important information regarding Sail4th250 restrictions for tonight’s fireworks display.

As you head out on the water to celebrate, remember:
⚓ Boat sober.
🦺 Wear your life jacket.
🚤 Follow all safety zones and navigation restrictions.
🇺🇸 Have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day!

🇺🇸⚓ This Fourth of July weekend, celebrate responsibly on the water!

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is proud to support Operation Dry Water, a nationwide campaign focused on preventing boating under the influence (BUI). Just like drinking and driving, drinking and boating can have deadly consequences. Sun, wind, waves, and alcohol can quickly impair judgment, reaction time, and situational awareness.

As you enjoy America’s birthday on the water:
✅ Designate a sober operator
✅ Wear a life jacket
✅ Stay alert and aware of your surroundings
✅ Never boat under the influence

Whether you’re operating a boat, personal watercraft, kayak, or paddleboard, make safety your top priority.

This Independence Day, help keep our waterways safe for everyone. Boat sober. Boat smart. Boat safely.
