Join Francis Martin Library and Roundabout Theatre Company's Artist-in-Residence for 8 sessions of artistic workshops!

This Summer workshop invites participants to become part of a community of artists who will create their own plays inspired by images of art found from library resources. Through research and exploration, the community will combine monologues that build a play. The artists will bring the plays to life through acting workshops, culminating in a sharing for the community.

Join us for 8-weekly workshops on Thursday afternoons starting on June 11th from 4pm-6pm*!

*Please note that the final workshop on Thursday, July 30th will be from 3pm-6pm.

"Here at FX the Crochet and Crafts group has done a lot in the first part of the year and I wanted to share their first major group project! To get the community in the mood for the summer we created an aquarium book display. The crochet group, affectionately called the Crochet Ladies, spent May working on all manner of sea critters to bring color and fun to show off Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt in time for the Netflix movie release as well as other titles.

Additionally, this year our crochet group donated over 20 blankets to LiveOnNY for the Sean's Gift initiative. Over the years they have shared their talents in different ways (crochet bookmarks for the kids section in December, informal meetups in the adult section, researching, writing, trading patterns and resources)." - Ms. Jacobs, Adult Librarian

A quartet of singers present an engaging, 30-minute, interactive program of songs that follow the musical upbringing and journey of native Mexican and MVNY singer Rudy Giron. Repertoire for SATB quartet includes indigenous songs, folk songs, and popular songs in Spanish and other languages of Mexico with interactive elements for audience members such as movement, sound effects, and singalongs.
