World Cup minus one and the penultimate day of our campaign! Donations are matched, which means you can double your impact today by giving at powerof11.southbronxunited.org 🙌🏽 We're with GU14 dynamo Linette and Lylah for La Tricolor! Vamos Ecuador! ⚽️🇪🇨🏆

"I support the Ecuadorian national team, because it's really meaningful to my family, because both sides of my family were born there and I have a lot of family over there. So, I feel like if I don't support the Ecuadorian team, they would be disappointed in me. BUT, I already want to support the Ecuadorian team, because I love all the players, they play good and I love their strategies. I love the way [Enner Valencia] scores his goals, because he knows which way he wants it to go and he knows how to control the ball when he's dribbling." —Linette

"One of my favorite memories is last year when I went to an Ecuador game at Red Bull Arena and they won and I caught the ball when they hit it. First, we got snacks—like Ecuadorian snacks—which was really good. Then we went to our seats and saw the soccer game start—they had a really good start and they won, so it was really cool and good, and I loved it." —Lylah

The city is buzzing, and there's still so much to look forward to. Just a couple days left of our campaign, and we need to make up a lot of progress towards our fundraising goal in order to sustain SBU programs into the next year. Please consider making donation at powerof11.southbronxunited.org

GU14 stalwart Angie is with us today to talk about her support for El Tri! Vamos México! ⚽️🇲🇽🏆

"I support the Mexican national team, because I'm obviously from Mexico, and I just think it's a really good team. I like Raúl Jiménez, I think he's a great player."

"My favorite memories supporting the national team are always all of us getting excited, we're eating chips and dip, and when everyone starts screaming because it gets so exciting. I'm looking forward to all of that this summer and to playing soccer mostly."

Our campaign continues with the champions of Africa! Well, I guess it depends who you ask... 😏 We asked Sidy of our SBU Academy BU19 team. We're a long way from our fundraising goal. But we've also received pledges so that the next $75k raised is being matched dollar-for-dollar! Please consider sharing our campaign and making a contribution yourself at powerof11.southbronxunited.org

⚽️🇸🇳🏆

"I spent almost all my life in Senegal, and my mom and dad were born there. It's a country where everybody loves soccer. When they play, it always brings me joy, you know, everybody's excited. Whenever there's an AFCON or a World Cup, we're out on the streets, there are flags everywhere, everybody's just excited about it."

"One of my favorite memories is probably the last AFCON [final] against Morocco—oh my days... It was a crazy game, but somehow we still ended up winning. I mean people say we're not a champ, but we still a champ, cause we won on the field."

One week of our campaign, seven days of excitement and pride from our community as we count down to the World Cup! The local and the global are inextricable impulses, points of view, inspirations for us at SBU. We are eager and proud to celebrate the many cultures and origins from which we hail. We are proud, as well to join Charles in getting behind the US national team! ⚽️🇺🇸🏆

"I support the US national team, because I'm American, and I really feel like USA can improve in soccer, in their ability to play. Because, even though we might not be as talented as the likes of England, Spain, France, our system is improving and our players are improving. America is getting more connected in soccer, and we're getting better and better."

"My favorite memory—well, it might not be my favorite—but when the US lost 3-1 to the Netherlands, because I had an excitement at first, when Pulisic was cooking, when they were scoring, at first, but then [the Netherlands] made a comeback. But, it reminded me how the USA are like this close—they're very close—to competing at a high level. And it made me optimistic for the future of South Bronx United, of all different teams, combining our players and having a very great American squad. Because, if we're this close to beating the Netherlands, imagine in like a few years how good we can be."

SBU Academy right back Metztli cheers for Samurai Blue, and we do too! ⚽️🇯🇵🏆

"I support the Japanese national team, because my mom comes from there, and I think the country is really cool. Supporting the national team is important to me, because it makes me feel proud of being Japanese."

"I really admire Nagatomo, because he's really old and he still made it to the World Cup. He also plays my position, which is right back. I love the way Japan plays soccer, the way they build up in a really tactical way."

World Cup minus six. You can just about feel it all over the city now, even amid the pride and glory of the Knicks. But we know it's our campaign that's got you all buzzing 😏. We're with SBU Academy icon Jason today. He's always got something to say... and we love him for it. Which is one of the reasons why we'll be cheering the Black Stars this summer! Join the by giving $11 or more at powerof11.southbronxunited.org ⚽️🇬🇭🏆

"You gotta know where you come from, your background, you always gotta support your people, cause you all gotta come together and represent, and show why we deserve to win on the biggest stage. Especially because this year is in the US, we have a big chance to actually go watch the game and see our team ball out, and hopefully come home with the World Cup."

"Ghana means a lot to me. It makes me who I am—it's all in me. My family came from Africa, moved over here, trying to get a better life; and football helped people get new lifestyles, helped people find new passions, and brings us all together as a community."

Day four of our campaign, and just one week until World Cup! Beyond the beautiful celebrations and epic gatherings, the World Cup always inspires people of all ages to get back on the pitch or to find their place on it for the first time. One of the most powerful opportunities of this moment is ensuring that place exists: a place to play and learn and grow. 👉🏽 powerof11.southbronxunited.org to join South Bronx United in meeting the moment!

We're with Mohamed today, and always hoping to see Mo Salah score lots of goals ⚽🇪🇬🏆

"It means very much to my family to support the national team, because we haven't been very included in the World Cup much. I remember back in 2017 or 2018 when Mo Salah scored a last minute penalty to take us to the 2018 World Cup, and I was really proud. We didn't do well in that tournament, but it was a very memorable moment to see Egypt get back in the World Cup."

"This summer, I hope that Egypt makes at least the round of 16, and I hope to see Mo Salah score a lot of goals."
