Thank you to Councilmember Ariola for her continued dedication and support of New York City’s volunteer fire departments and her commitment to preserving the quality of life in the communities they proudly serve. Your support of our volunteers and the vital services they provide is truly appreciated!

Council Member Joann Ariola has announced the completion of a $57,000 project to install teleprinters at seven volunteer firehouses across the city as part of efforts to bring emergency dispatch equipment to all volunteer firehouses.

Today, members of the Edgewater Park Fire Department took the time to learn CPR, while others refreshed and updated their existing skills.

These members are now better prepared to provide potentially life-saving care when called upon. CPR can make a critical difference in an emergency, and having trained members ready to respond is an important part of serving our community.

Thank you to all of our members who took the time to learn and refresh these valuable life-saving skills. Your dedication to training and to the Edgewater Park community is greatly appreciated.

In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that the department announces the passing of Ex-Lieutenant William “Billy” Hughes.

Billy passed away Monday evening and will be greatly missed by his fellow members, friends, and the entire community. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Practice, Practice, Practice!!
This evening, department members spent time honing their pumping and hose line operations skills while also helping prepare Sandy Pier for this weekend’s swimming races.
Whether it’s emergency response training or supporting community events, our members are always ready to serve. Great work by everyone involved!

Happy anniversary to the Broad Channel Vollies!

Happy 121st Anniversary to our own Broad Channel Vol Fire Dept of Queens, who were organized on this date in 1905.

Yesterday, Sunday, August 30, at approximately 4:55 p.m., the Edgewater Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a structure fire in Edgewater Park.

Before firefighters arrived, neighboring residents took swift action and were able to extinguish the fire. Upon arrival, EPVFD crews and FDNY personnel checked the structure for any hidden fire extension using thermal imaging cameras and operated one attack line to cool and extinguish remaining hot spots.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. All units cleared the scene and returned to service by approximately 6:00 p.m.

We would like to thank our neighboring residents for their quick actions!
