As we approach the graduation festivities at TDHS, we'd like to recognize our Class of 2026 graduating STEM Leaders!

Both Evelyn Schecter and Kim Morales joined us in 2023, first helping in summer camps, and then assisting/coaching/refereeing in TDMS robotics. They have also supported elementary students through STEM Club visits and helped at TDMS with 3-D printing. Shirley Cornejo joined us in 2024, helping students in our elementary programs, such as Maker, Boo Crew, and VEX Robotics. Rokiah Notbohm also joined in 2024, helping in summer camps, robotics tournaments, and elementary Maker.

We couldn't offer the hands-on activities that we provide without the extra hands and creative minds of our STEM Leaders. Thanks also to the Roundhouse Foundation for supporting this program!

From the Oregon 4-H Foundation:

We are proud to share some exciting news: Oregon 4‑H has been awarded its first ever Dammy Award!

Wasco County 4‑H took home a Dammy for Best Communication Strategy, recognized for their clear and compelling fundraising effort to purchase a new livestock scale for their fairgrounds. By combining a matching county challenge gift from Jeanne Carver with strong community outreach, they rallied supporters across their region to give on Dam Proud Day.

Not only did they surpass their original $8,000 goal - unlocking additional challenge funds - but they ultimately raised an impressive $18,975 in support of their program.

This honor reflects the collective effort of our incredible 4‑H community - our donors, volunteers, staff, alumni, and partners - who came together to make this year’s campaign such a success. Thanks to your support, we were able to expand access to transformative opportunities like 4‑H Summer Conference, ensuring more young people across Oregon can learn, lead, and thrive.

Earning our first Dammy is more than an award, it’s a milestone moment that highlights the growing impact of 4‑H and the power of what we can achieve together. Oregon 4-H Foundation President Sue Densmore was present to accept this award on behalf of Oregon 4-H and Wasco County.

Thank you for being part of this success.
Because of you, we’re not just celebrating a win… we’re building a stronger future for Oregon’s youth.

We had fun with youth and their families at the Chenowith Elementary family STEM carnival! Parents and their children learned about the Sphero device, driving Spheros on phones in our obstacle course in the gym. Our TDHS STEM Leaders manned tables with "make and take" STEM projects.
