What we did in June. Our food pantry served 317 families for a total of 1053 people and distributed almost 2000 pounds of food. Our pantry is open from 1 to 3 on Tuesdays, and 3 till 5 on Thursday. Its located in the alley behind the St. Vinnies store on 9th street. Find some zuchinni on your door step and no idea what to do with it. It happens this time of year. The food pantry is happy to give it out. We also can distribute fresh veggies and fruit. They can also distrubute canned items, as long as they have a current date. Did you know that a $5 donation to the pantry gets turned into $25 worth of food? Because of Oregon Food Bank buying power, donations to us is multiplied. Donations may be dropped off at the pantry during open hours or mail to St. Vincent dePaul of The Dalles Box 553 The Dalles or go on line to our website to donate. Grocery Outlet also has a great way to donate this month. Donate $5 to food pantry, get a $5 coupon for your next visit, and we get one also. This is going on until the end of July. Many thanks to Cody Miller for his support. Our service center on West 3rd continues to offer showers, laundry and clothing vouchers. Vouchers are available on Wednesdays from 2 till 4. Last month we had 97 showers and 39 loads of laundry. We supply all the soap and detergent. We gave out over $600 in vouchers for St. Vinnies, and over $600 for other requested help. Thanks to all who have donated clothing over the last month. In addition to vouchers, we have clothing that we give to anyone in need. Just drop in. Our hours are 930 till 130 Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 930 till 4 on Wednesdays. Questions? Call 541 296 9566 for assistance.

Hunger is a constant in the life of many of our community. Our food pantry is experiening increased visits, and like all of the pantrys, we could use some additional foods. Home folks who plant gardens every year, could assist by maybe planting an extra row for donation to the pantrys. When harvest comes, if you have abundant fresh items you cannot use, please consider a donation to the food pantrys. For our pantry, you can phone 541 340 1927 for any questions you may have.

On "Helping Hands" this morning, I mentioned that we are short of pants. In fact we may only have one or two pair on the rack. Well Stan mentioned that Bi-Mart has jeans on sale this week for only $9.99.Mostly 32 to 44 waist, and 32 to 36 inch length would be great. It would be great if we could add some stock to our rack next week. We are closing today at noon, but will be open next Tuesday thru Thursday from 9:30 to 1:30. God Bless and have a happy thanksgiving.
