🎉 Probation Complete. Firefighter Earned. 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Reid Hopson on successfully completing his probationary year and officially earning the rank of Firefighter with The Village Fire Department!

For Reid, joining The Village FD also carries a little extra history. He is continuing a family legacy established by his uncle, who retired from our department as a Lieutenant.

Over the past year, Reid has worked hard to prove that he belongs here on his own merit. He continues to live up to the values set before him while building a reputation and career of his own.

We are proud to call Reid one of our firefighters, excited to see where his career takes him, and look forward to supporting him as he works toward his future goals.

Sometimes the Best Tours Aren’t Planned!

Community outreach doesn’t always need to be a scheduled event. Sometimes it’s simply taking a few extra minutes to open the doors, answer some questions, and hopefully make someone’s evening a little more memorable.

This group got an up-close look at the truck, learned about some of the equipment we carry, and spent a little time getting to know the firefighters behind it all.

🚒☀️ Summer Camp + Fire Safety = A Great Day! ☀️🚒

We had a wonderful time visiting the Chabad Community Centers Summer Camp to share a little fire safety and a lot of fun!

Our firefighters talked with the campers about staying safe, gave everyone a tour of the fire engine, and let each child climb inside to see what it’s like to ride in a real fire truck. To top it all off, we wrapped up the visit the best way we know how… with the lights flashing, sirens sounding, and plenty of smiling faces waving goodbye. 🚨👋

Thank you to the campers and staff for making us feel so welcome. We love opportunities like these to connect with our community, build friendships, and inspire the next generation while sharing important fire safety lessons.

🎆Fireworks + City of The Village = Not the Best Match🎆

Things to keep in mind for the upcoming holiday:

While Oklahoma's new fireworks law allows consumer fireworks in many areas, The Village's city ordinance still prohibits the use of fireworks within city limits.

This Fourth of July holiday, help us keep the celebrations festive and the fire trucks in the station. Enjoy one of the many professional fireworks shows around the metro and leave the booms to the experts.

After all, the only things we want lighting up this holiday are the sky... not your yard. 😉🚒

🚒💦 A Day Full of Smiles, Learning, and a Little Water! 💦🚒

We had an incredible time visiting Brighter Horizons ABA for a fire safety presentation and Touch-A-Truck experience!

The kids learned about fire safety, explored our fire engine, met their local firefighters, and even got the chance to help spray the fire hose before cooling off by playing in the water. Judging by the smiles, it was a hit! 😄

One thing that truly stood out to us was the compassion and dedication of the Brighter Horizons staff. Every child is unique, and when one became nervous or unsure, the teachers instinctively knew exactly how to comfort, encourage, and support them in a way that met their individual needs. It was inspiring to witness the patience, care, and love they pour into these children every day.

Thank you, Brighter Horizons ABA, for inviting us to be part of your day. We had a blast, and we’re grateful for everything you do for these amazing kids!

Do your pets get as scared as the puppy in this picture during or after a storm?
Here are some Post-Disaster Behavior Reminders:
After a major disaster or evacuation, remember that your pet's behavior might change dramatically. They can become disoriented, anxious, or defensive due to unfamiliar areas.

Important things to do after the storm:
• Check pets for injuries and watch for stressed behavior
• Keep them leashed or contained. Check fences before letting them out and look for debris that can be dangerous.
• Give them extra time, quiet spaces, and comfort as they decompress and adjust back to normal.

🚒👨‍🚒 Career Day at The Village Fire Department! 👩‍🚒🚒

We had a great time welcoming students from Westchester Micro Schools to the fire station for Career Day!

The students got a behind-the-scenes look at what life is like at the fire station, explored our fire engines, learned about the tools and equipment we use, and asked some fantastic questions along the way.

Of course, no visit to the fire station would be complete without learning the most important firefighter skill of all… how to play in the water!

We love opportunities like these to connect with the next generation, share what we do, and hopefully inspire a few future firefighters. Judging by the smiles and excitement, we may have a few future recruits already in the making.

Thank you to Westchester Micro Schools for spending part of your day with us. We had a blast and hope you did too!
