Mark your calendars for November 21, 2020 at Town Green Park

The Lighting of the Doves festival is a long-standing tradition in The Woodlands that signifies the start of the holiday season in the community. Symbolizing peace during the holidays, the ceremonial illumination of the giant doves has attracted thousands of visitors each year.

This year's event, modified for COVID-19, will be limited to Santa's arrival to Town Green Park, the dove lighting ceremony and fireworks. No activities, vendor booths, snow play areas or concessions/beverages will be available at this year's event.

Congratulations to Debra and Tom O'Donnell of Watermint Place for winning the spookiest house for 2020. Debra changes the display every year, and won once before, 10 years ago. One of the new additions this year is the ghostly stagecoach behind them. Many of the items are motion activated and make sounds or flash lights (or roll eyes) when you walk past. Our favorite is the giant spider who has captured a ghost.

Hello Everyone, I am the Activities Director at the Conservatory at Alden Bridge. First, I want to thank all of you that have showed us such amazing support when we were going through hard times! It is so appreciated and we are very thankful!
Every year we have children parade through our lobby and lounge for Trick or Treating. This is one of our Resident's favorite things, seeing the children in costume. Obviously this year we cannot do this. We have decided this year to do a "Drive-thru" Trick or Treat. Some of our Residents will be outside very social distanced, so that they can see the children. Candy will be passed out with grabbers by the office staff, so there will be no contact and will be social distanced. If you are interested please bring the kiddos in costume, decorate your car or just swing by. The Residents will enjoy this so much!
Many Blessings,
Ginger

The Woodlands Township is hosting a FREE COVID-19 walk-up testing site at Town Hall.

When:
Beginning today, Friday, October 23, 2020
7 days a week
9am - 5:30 pm

How:
Walk-ups to the van welcome.
Appointments are not necessary but you can book an appointment at https://curative.com/.
No insurance necessary.

Testing is provided by Curative, Inc. through a state grant with TDEM.

Curative offers an oral-fluid swab testing - an alternative method to nasopharyngeal or brain swabs in testing for COVID-19.

The self-administered oral fluid swab involves having the person cough first, which releases virus from the upper and lower respiratory tract. The virus is then caught in the saliva, the patient then swabs the inside of their cheeks and the roofs of their mouths for 20 seconds.

Once complete, the patient seals their test within a secure container and returns it to a medical professional to be administered in the lab. The entire Curative test is done without having to come into close contact with others, therefore eliminating the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) changes.

Test results provided within 24 - 48 hours via text or email.

Do not eat or drink, chew gum, smoke or brush your teeth 20 minutes prior to testing.

Capacity of 500 tests per day.

Park in the front parking lot, walk up to the van, receive the testing packet via a drop chute, complete the form and perform your test under the adjacent tent (Curative technicians are available by the tent for instructions), return completed test kit in drop chute in the van.

Watch how Curative administers the test at cur.tv/howtotest.

馃巸 NEW LOCATION FOR TRICK OR TREAT TRAIL DRIVE-THRU 馃巸

Due to unprecedented early voting turnout at the George Mitchell Library in Sterling Ridge, The Woodlands Township鈥檚 Trick or Treat Trail Drive-Thru Event has been relocated to the Sawdust Park and Ride, located at 701 Westridge Road in The Woodlands, TX 77380.

The free drive-thru event will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020. Participants will receive giveaways, goodies and candies from local vendors and organizations.

With the previous event location (Sterling Ridge Park and Ride) being adjacent to an early voting polling location, along with recent patterns of high traffic for early voting, the relocation will avoid potential voter impact to access the facility. Attendees must access the Sawdust Park and Ride from South Park Drive. All event traffic attempting to enter Westridge Road from Budde Road will be rerouted.

Costume contests will now take place virtually. Participants are only allowed to compete in one costume contest and prizes will be awarded to the top three costumes per contest. View the Virtual Costume Contest Entry Form for more information: https://bit.ly/32U9y7r

10/09/2020

National Night Out, the annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships as well as crime and drug prevention awareness, will have a new look this year. To keep neighbors safe amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, neighborhood block parties and social gatherings will be replaced with a public safety drive-thru event. It is set for Sunday, October 11, 2020, from 2 to 5 p.m.

The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch has designed the public safety drive-thru event for all neighborhoods to share friendly greetings with public safety personnel.

路 Routes are designated by village, neighborhood and main collector streets and include estimated times. They are posted on The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch page and The Township website and are attached for your Village.

路 Residents are encouraged to come to their own front yards, driveways or to the nearest intersection crossing to wave hello, display thank-you posters, sidewalk chalk art and other creative gestures to thank public safety personnel.

路 Please keep everyone safe by practicing social distancing and wearing face coverings.

路 As public safety apparatus and personnel enter a neighborhood, they will sound their horn and/or siren. They will remain in their vehicles as they drive by and wave.

路 Please do not approach the public safety vehicles, and be especially mindful of children.

In the spirit of National Night Out, and neighbors helping neighbors, The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch is collaborating with Interfaith of The Woodlands Food Pantry, Montgomery County Women鈥檚 Center and Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Details can be found on The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch page.

Happy National Night Out!

The ever-popular National Night Out neighborhood parties and social gatherings will be replaced with a Public Safety Drive-Thru event on Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 2 to 5 p.m. Throughout the week, routes will be posted per Village so please be on the lookout for your route.

Alden Bridge please join us in showing support to Public Safety.
Reminder, times listed below are estimated. Please practice social distancing.
