🐛 SNEAK PEEK: SCIENCE DAY 2026! 🕷️

We are just TWO DAYS away from Galatas Elementary’s Creepy Crawlers Science Day, and we could not be more excited!

Our amazing volunteers have been absolutely knocking it out of the park, working their tails off to transform our spaces into incredible learning experiences for our little Greyhounds. The Earthworm Room, Spider Room, and Discovery Bug Room are all coming together, and we cannot wait for our students to explore, discover, and learn all about the fascinating world of bugs! 🪱🕸️🔬

We are beyond thrilled with how everything is turning out, and we owe so much of that excitement to our incredible Science Committee and dedicated volunteers. You have spent countless hours here, working hard all day for TWO days already, and we still have two more days of prep ahead of us!

We truly could not put on a day like this without you. Your creativity, dedication, teamwork, and willingness to go above and beyond make these unforgettable experiences possible for our students.

We are, without a doubt, the luckiest school community in the world to have such amazing volunteers!

Thank you for making Science Day something truly special. We cannot wait to see our little Greyhounds’ faces light up!

📚✨ A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR LITTLE READERS! ✨📚

Thank you to all our wonderful little Greyhounds who participated in Galatas Elementary’s annual Reading Project Contest! 🐾❤️

We received so many amazing submissions, and it was such a joy to walk through our hallways and admire the creativity, imagination, and hard work that went into each and every project. Seeing our students’ love of reading come to life was truly a delight!

We are so grateful to every student who participated and to the families who helped make these projects so special. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us and helping make Reading Week such a memorable celebration! 📖💫

📚✨ What a magical Storybook Night at Galatas Elementary! ✨📚

Thank you to all our wonderful families for joining us for such a special evening! We were thrilled to welcome the Woodland High School Scripps Writing Club for their delightful performance of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. 🍪📖

A very special thank-you to Princess of the Woodlands for sponsoring an evening with Rapunzel! 👑💜 We were absolutely delighted that Rapunzel could come down from her tower to spend the evening with our little Greyhounds. She answered so many wonderful questions and treated us to a charming story about her adventures. It was truly a fairytale come to life!

We hope everyone enjoyed browsing the book fair and discovering new stories to take home. 📚✨ Seeing so many smiling faces and watching our students get excited about reading reminds us why we love these special moments.

Yearbook Cover Contest!🎉

Each year our talented students get the opportunity to design the cover artwork for the yearbook.

This year’s theme is “Disco Fever!”🪩

Contest Rules:
1.) All submissions should be done in the portrait (vertical) layout.
2.) Maximum size should be 8.5”X11” on a white 8 ½” x 11” sheet paper. (This is the only size allowed for scanning purposes.)
3.) Include a greyhound in your picture.
4.) Do not put your name on the front of the paper.
5.) Including the school name is optional.
6.) Take a photo or scan your work and email it to [email protected] by October 23rd. Include your name and section number in the email.
7.) Save the hardcopy! Those will be collected if chosen.

Once all submissions have been received, each grade level will vote for their grade level favorite. The finalists from each grade level will then go through a final round of voting to choose the cover for this year’s book. Good luck and have fun!🐾😊

🌟 Once upon a time… families gathered for a magical evening filled with stories, laughter, and a little bookish fun! 💜📖

Join us on Tuesday, October 20th, for our annual Storybook Night! Bring your little Greyhounds and get ready for a cozy evening of storytelling and performances. 🐾❤️

🕠 Doors Open at 5:30 PM!
📚 Browse our Book Fair and find the perfect spot to settle in for the show!

🧸 Don’t forget your blankets and pillows! Performance start at 6:00. Make yourselves comfortable as we snuggle up and enjoy the performances together.

🎭 The fun doesn’t stop when the show ends! Families will have additional time to browse the Book Fair, shop for favorite books, and enjoy the magic of reading together.

🦎🍪 From fairy-tale adventures to a certain cookie-loving little mouse, there’s something magical waiting for everyone!

❤️✨ Bring your family, invite your friends, and join us for a cozy night celebrating the joy of books, imagination, and community!

Our Daily Reading Minute Challenge kicks off Monday, October 19th, during Reading Week! 🐾📖

Parents, this is a wonderful opportunity to encourage your little readers to build great reading habits while participating in a fun contest! ❤️

📝 Here’s how to participate:

📖 Encourage your child to read every day!
📝 Log your child’s daily reading minutes using the designated form.
⏰ Submit the form by 8:00 p.m. each night for a chance for your child to be recognized the following day!

🏆 Starting Tuesday morning, October 20th, a member of our administration will announce TWO winners from each grade level!

📣 Remember, this is a DAILY contest! Reading minutes will not roll over to the next day, so be sure to submit your child’s minutes each evening. Every new day brings a fresh opportunity for more Greyhounds to participate, earn recognition, and win! 🎉

Let’s cheer on our Greyhounds, celebrate their love of reading, and make this Reading Week extra special! 🐾📚❤️

Book Fair Volunteers Needed!📚

It’s book fair time and this fun event does not happen without our amazing volunteers. We need volunteers to man cash registers, restock, assist students, help on preview days and bedtime story night. We will also need assistance for set up and break down of the book fair. Scholastic is offering a coupon for volunteers.

We have some fun reading ideas planned for each day to encourage our students to explore new books, learn about book knowledge, and discover just how much fun reading can be!

Don’t forget to turn in your Reading Week projects! We can’t wait to see all the creative projects our little Greyhounds are making and how they bring their favorite books and stories to life!

Make sure to stop by the Book Fair throughout Reading Week and find a new favorite book!

Join us for a special evening filled with stories, books, and the magic of reading!
