We have a new repeater in Hot Springs County. 147.300MHz (positive .6MHz offset, PL tone of 103.5).

This will be our primary repeater for weekly nets starting this weekend. So far the range appears to be great, we even appear to be hitting Worland with it.

Our ARES nets are every Sunday at 8pm on this repeater. All licensed amateurs are welcome to join us on the net. If you have any questions, please reach out to this page. Thank you!

We will be participating in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills event on October 19th at 10:19 hours. All Hot Springs County ARES members are requested to complete the Winlink report to assist with the training. It is important to train on these systems so you are confident in using them in times of a true emergency. Please cc: KD0JXU in your Winlink report so I get a copy of your report.

For more information on the event: https://winlink.org/content/shakeout

Winlink is a system to send emails over the internet (Telnet) or over amateur radio signals when the internet is not an option. This system can be vital in emergency communications.

If you have questions on Winlink, or would like to learn more about earning your amateur radio license to be able to use systems such as Winlink, please reach out to this page.

The emergency exercise/net tonight was a success. In less than 15 minutes I was able to get to the hill where our repeater is set, set up a temporary antenna, and get on the air for the net. This is great to know in a real emergency we could have communications set up quickly.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and we will try to do this again in the future!

2023 Field Day is over. I made 54 contacts on 20m from Hot Springs State Park this year. There were so many people on 20m that I had to be persistent to make the contacts. Thank you to everyone that stopped by to visit and try out the radio.

Notable contacts this year include Alaska, North Florida, and Rhode Island. Check out the map below to see everywhere I made contact this year.

I can't wait for next year. Hope to see even more people show up to ask questions and take a chance getting on the air!

We're set up in the southeast corner of the main field in Hot Springs State Park. You can't miss the antenna! Come out and say hi, we'll be here until the park closes.
