I am Paul Galovich and am running for Hot Springs County Commissioner in this election. This community is a special place to me and my family.

My grandfather was an immigrant from Yugoslavia that settled here in this county to pursue his dreams and build a life for his family. He was a widower with a large family of 8 children to raise. The year his wife and baby died was 1933, the time of the Great Depression; economic times were dark and tumultuous, but he had employment digging in the local coal mines of Gebo, Wy. Grandpa Mike, or Mane, raised a large garden and farm animals to feed his family and regularly fed strangers that were moving through on the trains. These transient men willingly expected to help with chores in exchange for their meal. Grandpa utilized his skills of self reliance, hard work, integrity and freedom, to overcome the challenges that he faced. He successfully raised a family whose posterity now spans 5 generations in Hot Springs County.

These strong family roots have cultivated in me a love and passion for this great country, the inspired U.S. Constitution, and our individual freedom to choose. Similar to my grandfather, I started out my marriage and family with meager means. Because of the freedom to pursue happiness, hard work and determination, utilization of skills, and blessings of seeking the Lord in prayer, I have also been able to build a successful family and business in this country.

My family, business, efforts and dreams have prospered in this very community of Hot Springs County. The pursuits and service that I have given over my lifetime give me unique skills that can continue to benefit this community.

With my business partner, we own and operate B&G Industries; a light manufacturing business here in Hot Springs County for 25 years. We own an aircraft repair business at the airport in Greybull, and a light manufacturing business in Powell. I previously had employment in refinery, gas plant and oil fields for many years. I have experience in the agricultural business. I love the mountains and hunting and have had many years of experience as a guide and sportsman. I have given resources of time and money to help others. This started as a child, and continued to my teenage years when I left my home to unknown places for two years to help others. In my adult years I have given resources and service as a leader and teacher in youth organizations. I have been responsible to oversee finances, staff a variety of teaching organizations, counsel individuals through difficulties, perform weddings and funerals, and other responsibilities in service to God and church.

Much like my grandfather, we also live in tumultuous and historic times: high inflation, supply chain issues, pandemic, possible world war, with a federal government that is out of control. These are some of the real issues we are facing today. How are these things affecting Hot Springs County? How can we as a community deal with these issues? I believe that our local elections are some of the most important considerations we have today because this is where the most important solutions will occur.

It is necessary that we consider these issues together as a community. That we look to each other in new ways, as unusual solutions are sought for in the uncharted times we face. We have helped each other as neighbors before. How can we tailor resources in our community for the times that we live in?

As a county commissioner I would desire to continue the tradition of giving back to this community. Principles of integrity, preparedness and self reliance are highly needed. To demonstrate this commitment I pledge to give the salary I would make as county commissioner back to volunteer organizations in our community that are giving back to individuals, such as: the Senior Center and People for People.

Please vote for Paul Galovich as Hot Springs County Commissioner on August 16.
