You asked us to explain the fiscal impact of the millage renewals. This chart shows it as simply as we can.

The renewals on the ballot continue funding for public health, recreation, and public buildings. For many homeowners, the annual impact is measured in cents—not dollars.

We believe voters deserve clear information and transparent numbers.

Early voting is June 12-20 and Election Day is June 27.

COTE BLANCHE PONTOON BRIDGE PROJECT UPDATE: Estimated completion of this very important rehabilitation project is expected to be by the end of August 2026. The pontoon portion of the bridge has returned. Crews are currently working on the electrical systems, and work on the pontoon deck and bridge house continues. The deck grating is waiting for delivery. This new deck grating had to be custom-made; measurements could only be taken after the original deck was removed. Measurements had to be taken on the main runner beams for the correct alignment of the bolt holes in the deck grating panels before they are hot dipped galvanized. Keep following our page for more information.

PROCLAMATION: Parish President Mitch Orgeron has proclaimed Saturday, May 30, 2026 as Sickle Cell Awareness Day.

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects millions of people worldwide and impacts thousands of individuals and families across the United States. Individuals living with sickle cell disease endure chronic pain, frequent hospitalizations, and serious health complications that require ongoing medical care and support. Increasing public awareness and understanding of sickle cell disease is essential to improving early diagnosis, expanding access to quality care, and supporting ongoing research toward better treatments and a cure.

“Shining for Cells” was founded by Ashantian Smith, who bravely battled sickle cell disease and, before her passing on December 25, 2024, dedicated her life to educating, empowering, and advocating for individuals and families affected by the disease. Her legacy continues to inspire communities to raise awareness, support those impacted, and promote compassion and understanding through initiatives that honor her vision. “Shining for Cells” serves as a symbol of hope, unity, and resilience, encouraging communities to light up and stand in solidarity with those impacted by this disease. It is important to recognize and honor the strength and perseverance of individuals living with sickle cell disease, as well as their families, caregivers, and medical professionals who support them every day.
