TVFD Update:

Wednesday evening, TVFD members participated in Live Fire Training focused on fire behavior running several evolutions through our flashover training prop. We want to thank our dedicated members for their continued commitment to training to better protect our community.

This morning at 2:17am the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department was notified of house on fire at 509 Blake Court. First arriving units observed fire coming from the roof ridge vent and quickly went to work. As a crew advanced a hose line to the attic, a primary search was conducted and salvage covers were deployed to protect home furnishings. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. No injuries were reported and the fire continues to be under investigation. We would again like to recognize and thank our volunteers for their commitment to protecting our community.

This morning Fire Board President, Jimmy Ledet and Fire Board Vice President Shane Guin thanked Thibodaux Chamber members for their tremendous support at our Fireman’s Fair and gave an update on current construction of new dept facilities.

Thibodaux Police Department Announces Early Closure of Ride Area at 2026 Thibodaux Firemen’s Fair

Thibodaux Police Department Chief Bryan Zeringue, in coordination with command staff and officials from the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department, made the decision to close the ride area of the Thibodaux Firemen's Fair one hour early on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

This decision followed law enforcement personnel responding to multiple, repeated verbal and physical altercations occurring throughout the ride area of the fairgrounds. After evaluating the situation and considering the safety of all patrons, along with the limited time remaining before the fair’s scheduled closing, officials determined that an early closure of the ride area was the most appropriate course of action.

All patrons in the ride area were safely escorted from the rear of the fairgrounds. The food and live entertainment area of the fair remained open and operated as scheduled until the official closing time of 9:00 p.m.

At no point during these incidents were weapons of any kind used or discovered on any individuals involved.

The safety and well-being of our residents and visitors remain the highest priority for all events within the City of Thibodaux - Municipal Government. The Thibodaux Police Department appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the public and our community partners.

We extend our gratitude to the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department for their continued efforts in hosting this annual event and look forward to another successful fair next year.

We would like to thank E. D. White Catholic High School for the opportunity to speak with their sophomore, junior, and senior classes about what it takes to be part of a Volunteer Fire Department in their community.

We encouraged hands-on learning by allowing students to explore our equipment and ask questions about what we do.

Our mission is to provide the youth of our community with the opportunity to work side by side with our members, learn valuable life skills, build meaningful connections in a safe environment, and give back by helping protect lives and property.

We appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to continuing to inspire the next generation.
