Another beautiful day for fire prevention at Black Rock School! We had a great time teaching the kids about fire safety, answering their questions, and more of what we do at the TFD.

On Saturday (09/26/2026), the TFD hosted Robert Norton Sr’s retirement party. Bob served as a fire marshal for the town of Thomaston for over 45 years. We would like to thank Bob for his service to the town and the best of luck on his retirement.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the hijacking of United Airlines Flight 93, we remember all of the 2,977 Americans that were murdered. May they rest in peace, and their souls find their way to paradise.

We remember especially:
343 FDNY Firefighters
23 NYPD Officers
37 PAPD (Port Authority) Officers
1 New York City Fire Patrol member

We also cannot forget the continuing loss we feel as a service and a nation, as now more than 9,000 people have died due to 9/11-related illness since the attacks. In the FDNY, more than 600 members have died due to illness caused by the toxic conditions on the pile at ground zero. We hope that any who are still suffering find their way to health.
