Yesterday, members of Thomaston Fire & EMS had the opportunity to assist with a live fire training evolution, with our crew assigned to the fire room. Live fire training provides invaluable experience and allows firefighters to apply classroom knowledge in a controlled environment while building confidence and skills.

This was an especially big day for many participants, including our very own FF Silas Spear, and AEMT Jill Neagle who have been working extremely hard throughout their Firefighter I/II class. Today marked an important milestone in that journey, and they did an outstanding job. We are proud of their dedication, commitment, and performance.

A special thank you goes out to Assistant Chief Coombs, Lieutenant Root, and Lieutenant O’Hare for their time, instruction, and mentorship throughout the training.

Great work by everyone involved, and congratulations to all the students taking another step forward in their fire service careers!

Thank you Halls Funeral Home for thinking of us on EMS week! No pizza ever gets left behind in the firehouse 🚒!

Last but not least… we made our final stop of EMS Week at Thomaston Ambulance! 🍕🚑

We’re so grateful for the crews who show up day and night, in every kind of weather, for people on some of their hardest days. Around here, we know a good sense of humor can go a long way in getting through the tough calls — and we’re thankful to work alongside folks who bring both heart and grit to this community.

A little cheese, a little sauce, and a whole lot of appreciation from all of us at Hall Funeral Homes. ❤️

Yesterday, Thomaston Fire responded to Searsmont alongside departments from across multiple counties as crews battled a devastating fire that left multiple firefighters critically injured and one brother lost in the line of duty. Today, we had the honor of bringing our ladder truck to stand in tribute during the procession for Morrill’s Firefighter Cross.

Our hearts are with the family, loved ones, friends, and department members grieving this unimaginable loss, as well as all of the firefighters injured during yesterday’s incident. The fire service is a brotherhood and sisterhood that reaches far beyond town lines, and over these last two days that unity has been felt stronger than ever.

To all of our fire brothers and sisters: we stand with you, we grieve with you, and we honor the sacrifice made in service to others.

Please continue to keep everyone affected in your thoughts in the days ahead.

Last night, crews from Thomaston Fire & EMS, Owls Head Fire Department and South Thomaston Emergency Services took advantage of a valuable training opportunity, working on forcible entry, VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search), and vertical ventilation tactics.

With only one more day left before this building is torn down, crews have made the most of this to build confidence, sharpen skills, and reinforce critical fireground operations.

Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and the dedication shown by our members Owls Head and South Thomaston’s ensures we’re always ready when it matters most.
