📣The City of Thomasville, in partnership with the Thomasville Center for the Arts, invites the community to the Kid's Summer Reading Series! 📚

➡Date: Friday, June 5.
➡Time: 10:30 AM.
➡Location: Thomasville Center for the Arts, 600 E. Washington Street.
➡Children accompanied by an adult can enjoy a showing of the movie DOG MAN.
➡Free copy of the book (while supplies last).
➡Free popcorn, snack, and water.

🚧 The Dust Will Settle, the Improvements Will Last 🚧

Renovations are also underway at Thomas County Middle School! This summer, crews are refreshing the school with new paint, flooring, lighting, and updated ceilings to create bright, clean, and welcoming learning spaces for students and staff.

These upgrades build on the momentum of last year's cafeteria renovation and include a complete refresh of the media center, featuring a modernized classroom area and a versatile new lighting system.

We are grateful for the continued support that makes these improvements possible. The work happening today will have a lasting impact on our students for years to come.

Please note that during construction, Thomas County Middle School office staff and administrators are temporarily housed in the Pathways Admin building on the Board of Education campus.

🚧 Pardon Our Progress! 🚧

Exciting improvements are underway at Hand-In-Hand Primary School this summer! Renovations include fresh paint, new flooring, modern lighting, and updated ceilings throughout the building. These cosmetic upgrades follow major infrastructure improvements already completed, including new roofs and HVAC systems.

We appreciate our community's support in making these projects possible through the passage of E-SPLOST. These enhancements will help create bright, welcoming, and up-to-date learning spaces for our youngest students.

During construction, the Hand-In-Hand offices are temporarily located in the newly renovated media center. Visitors should enter through the doors on the left side of the building.

We can't wait to welcome students back to their refreshed school! ✨

Students from the TCMS and TCCHS Latin Club wrapped up the year with their annual banquet and a day full of Greco-Roman fun! 🏛️⚔️

Everyone spent the morning immersed in the ancient world, learning Roman military tactics, practicing gladiator combat (pool noodles included!), racing chariots, and playing Rota, a Roman version of tic-tac-toe. They then took a walking tour of downtown Thomasville, identifying Greek and Roman influences in local architecture before enjoying a Greek lunch at George and Louie’s.

To top off the day, students celebrated Mr. Gammel’s dies natalis (birthday) with sweet treats and plenty of fun memories.

What a great way to bring history, language, and culture to life!

Middle school students dove into the world of technology last week during our Coding and Computer Science Camp! 💻🚀

Campers explored real computer science concepts such as algorithms, logic, and game design through hands-on activities. They also enjoyed exciting races and got creative by designing their own keychains for the 3D printer.

🎵 Music Camp returned this summer after making its debut in our STEAM Camp lineup last year—and it was another big hit! 🎶

Campers learned to play a variety of instruments, including recorders, mallets, and ukuleles, while discovering the joy of making music together. As a special bonus, each participant got to take home their recorder at the end of camp so the music can continue all summer long! 🎼

One of our exciting STEAM camp sessions last week was all about exploration and innovation for rising 3rd–5th graders!

During GYSTC STEM Camp, these young scientists and engineers used raw materials to build, create, and solve real-world challenges while putting their problem-solving and teamwork skills to the test. 🛠️🔍

🩺❤️ Future healthcare heroes in the making!

Last week, our rising 6th-8th graders participated in Healthcare Science Camp, where they learned valuable hands-on medical and safety skills. Campers practiced Heartsaver CPR, basic first aid, taking vital signs, proper PPE usage, and effective hand hygiene techniques.

We are so proud of these students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication to learning skills that can truly make a difference!

🧪🔎 Searching for clues and solving mysteries!

Our Forensic Science Camp wrapped up an exciting week last week as campers explored the science behind crime scene investigations. From studying fingerprints and examining evidence to solving mystery cases, students stepped into the role of real forensic investigators while learning science in a fun and engaging way.

It was a great week of discovery, teamwork, and hands-on learning across all of our STEAM Camps!
