🇺🇸THIS FRIDAY | HOLLY HILL REMEMBERS: 25 YEARS LATER🇺🇸

This Friday, September 11th, we invite our community to join us at Holly Hill Memorial Park as we come together to remember, honor, and reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11th, 2001.

7:30am: Park opens for attendees (*Arrive early to see the ceremonial motorcycle entry at 7:45am*)

7:45am: Ceremonial Entry into the Park by the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Triad Chapter 15-12, along with members of the Patriot Guard Riders, Inc.

8:20am: We kindly ask that all attendees begin taking their seats at this time.

8:30am: Posting of Colors by the Honor Guard

National Anthem: Priscilla Smith

Invocation: Major Billy Louya, Chaplain, Davidson County Sheriff's Office

At 8:46am, we will pause for a Moment of Silence in remembrance of the first tower being struck and in honor of all those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001.

The morning will also include a dove release (Carolina Doves), 3 Volley Salute, Taps (Ben Benjamin), a Bell Ceremony by the Thomasville Fire & Rescue, a special keynote address, wreath laying, mayoral proclamations and ceremonies, patriotic music (The Rich Fork Carolers), a closing prayer (Brandon Williams, Mt Zion Wesleyan Church), and a moving performance of “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes by Suzann Hedgecock of Jamestown Pipes & Drums.

Cemetery upkeep has been in the news lately, and it’s brought attention to the importance of proper care and maintenance.

Here at Holly Hill, we’re proud of the care we put into our park and the experience we provide for the families we serve.

As a family-owned and operated cemetery, we believe caring for a cemetery is about more than mowing grass. It’s about creating a beautiful, peaceful place where families can visit, reflect, and feel connected to the people they love.

We take great pride in the landscaping, cleanliness, and overall beauty of our park, from our gardens and memorials to the Singing Tower, pond, walking areas, and special features throughout Holly Hill.

Just as importantly, we believe in communication with the families we serve. When you entrust us with your loved one’s final resting place, we understand the responsibility that comes with it. We want our families to know that we’re here, that we care, and that we’re listening.

And whether you have a loved one resting at Holly Hill or you’ve simply never taken the time to visit, we invite you to come see our park for yourself. Walk the grounds. Visit the gardens. Sit by the pond and feed our ducks. Enjoy the peaceful music playing from our Singing Tower.

Yesterday evening and again this morning, we continued our preparations, working alongside our local law enforcement partners to walk through the details and logistics for our September 11th 25th Anniversary Memorial Service.

While there are plenty of things that have to be planned behind the scenes, our hearts remain focused on what this morning is really about: Remembering the lives lost, honoring the families who were forever changed, and recognizing the courage and sacrifice of so many who answered the call that day.

We are truly honored to host this special service at Holly Hill in partnership with Sechrest-Davis Funerals and Cremations - Thomasville.

A sincere thank you to the Thomasville Police Department, Lexington Police Department, Davidson County Sheriff's Office, Thomasville Fire & Rescue, and Town of Denton, NC for being part of these preparations and for helping us ensure this service is worthy of the day we are gathering to remember.

By the end of the week, we’ll be sharing the final details for our September 11th service. We want our community to have plenty of time to plan their morning and join us at the Holly Hill Singing Tower as we come together to remember and honor the 25th anniversary.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. And we will never forget.

Sunset at Holly Hill.

A reminder that no matter how long the day has been, eventually the sun goes down. Some days are good. Some are hard. Some leave us wishing we could hit the rewind button and do things a little differently.

But then tomorrow comes.

A new day. A fresh start. Another chance to slow down, appreciate the people we love, make a phone call, say “I love you,” or simply take a breath and keep moving forward.

The sun setting tonight doesn’t mean the story is over. It just means today is coming to an end.

Tomorrow, the sun will rise again.

Eric Jr. and Mayci are still holding down chocolate headquarters at the Holly Hill office!

This week, we're having a little fun at Holly Hill and highlighting some of our Holly Hill family through baby pictures!

As August comes to a close, we take a moment to honor those who were laid to rest at Holly Hill this month.

Behind every name is a life, a story, a family, and countless memories that will continue to live on. While their time with us may have changed, the love and memories they left behind never do.

Here at Holly Hill, Keeping Memories Alive is at the heart of everything we do. Our park will always be a place where families can come, reflect, remember, and feel close to the people they love.

So this isn't goodbye. It's see you later. ❤️

Until that day, we will keep their names, their memories, and their stories close. And we will continue to care for their resting place with the respect they deserve.

Today is National Grief Awareness Day, and sometimes grief is as simple as this: You miss someone.

You miss their voice. Their laugh. The way they walked through the door. You miss being able to pick up the phone and call them. You miss the little things you never thought you'd miss.

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline. There are good days and there are really hard days. Sometimes you think you're doing okay, and then a song, a smell, or an old picture brings it all rushing back.

And that's okay.

You don't have to “move on” or forget someone to keep living your life. You can carry them with you. In the stories you tell, the memories you hold onto, and the love that doesn't disappear just because they are no longer here.

If you're grieving today, give yourself some grace. Take things one day at a time. And remember, even when things feel dark, there is still light ahead.

And if you know someone who is grieving, check on them. You don't need the right words. Sometimes just saying, “I'm thinking about you” means more than you realize.

At Holly Hill, we know how much a life can mean. And we know that remembering someone is one of the ways we keep their memory alive.

On September 25th, we’ll be taking a little time at Holly Hill to honor someone who meant so much to so many of us: Dolly Parton.

Dolly had a way of making people feel like family. Through her music, her kindness, her generosity, and simply being unapologetically herself, she became a meaningful part of so many of our lives.

Throughout the day, we’ll have pink cupcakes in the office for our visitors, and from 3:00–5:00pm, the Singing Tower will fill the park with a specially selected collection of Dolly’s songs. That evening, the Singing Tower will shine pink in her honor.

You can also stop by our Letters to Heaven station and write a letter to Dolly. Maybe it’s a favorite memory, a favorite song, a simple thank-you, or just a few words you wish you could tell her. There’s no right or wrong way to do it.

We know Dolly meant something different to each of us. For some, it was her music. For others, it was the way she cared for children, families, and people who needed a helping hand. For all of us, she brought a little more joy into the world.

So on 925 Day at Holly Hill, come celebrate Dolly with us.

A cupcake. A song. A letter. Our Singing Tower shining pink as a small tribute to a remarkable woman.

Just our way of saying thank you, Dolly, for being such a special part of our lives. đź’—
