One of Thomasville's most beautifully preserved streets is one most people walk right past without knowing what they are looking at. 🌿

The Salem Street Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 and encompasses 33 contributing buildings stretching from the 1860s all the way through the mid-1900s. From stunning Queen Anne and Colonial Revival architecture to notable landmarks like Heidelberg Church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and the historic Leon A. Kress House — every block of Salem Street tells a piece of Thomasville's story.

History does not always announce itself. Sometimes it just quietly lines the street waiting to be noticed. 🤍

Hometown Icon | Darrell Floyd

Born and raised right here in Thomasville, NC, Darrell Floyd became one of the most dominant basketball players in college history — and most people have never heard his name. 🤍

A graduate of Fair Grove High School in Thomasville, Floyd went on to Furman University where he rewrote the record books. He led the entire NCAA in scoring in both 1955 and 1956 — averaging an jaw dropping 35.9 points per game in his junior season. His career average of 32.1 points per game ranks eighth in NCAA history — ahead of legends like Elgin Baylor, Larry Bird, and Wilt Chamberlain.

On January 2, 1955 he scored 67 points in a single game against Morehead State — still the ninth highest single-game total in NCAA history. He was a two-time All-American, two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year, and one of only four Furman players to have his jersey retired.

In 2006, Darrell Floyd was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame: a Thomasville son who competed with the best in the country — and won. 🤍

🏆🚒 The 2026 Battle of the Badges Blood Drive Results Are In! 🚓🩸

The 2026 Battle of the Badges Blood Drive between Thomasville Fire & Rescue and the Thomasville Police Department NC was a huge success — and the trophy will be proudly displayed at the fire department for the upcoming year! 🏆🚒

We want to extend our sincerest thanks to every donor who took time out of their day to support this important effort. We set a high goal of collecting 62 lifesaving units, and because of your generosity, the American Red Cross collected 69 units! Absolutely amazing! 🙌❤️

A special thank you to Thomasville Fire & Rescue’s Deputy Chief Michael Wilson and Thomasville Police Department’s Chief Dustin Carter for working so diligently to bring this drive to life. Their tireless dedication makes all the difference. 👏

The American Red Cross North Carolina is currently facing a severe blood shortage. If you were unable to attend this event, please consider finding another nearby drive and donating. Your gift could truly help save a life. 🩸💙

Thank you again for your continued support of our community!

🚨 SCAM ALERT — DON’T FALL FOR THIS! 🚨

The Thomasville Police Department NC is warning residents about a very convincing bank scam currently being used by criminals.

📱 Scammers may call you from a number that appears to be your bank or credit union. They may already know your name, where you bank, partial card information, or even information about your Cash App account.

They may tell you your debit card has been compromised and claim there are fraudulent transactions on your account. They then ask you to:

❌ Confirm your debit card number or PIN
❌ Give them a 6-digit verification code
❌ Tell them how much money is in your accounts
❌ Move money into Cash App or another payment service
❌ Transfer money to “protect” or “secure” your funds

⚠️ STOP. HANG UP. CALL YOUR BANK YOURSELF.

Never trust Caller ID alone. Criminals can spoof legitimate phone numbers, making it appear that your bank, credit union, or even a government agency is calling.

🔐 NEVER give anyone your PIN or a security code sent to your phone. If a text says “DO NOT SHARE THIS CODE,” take that warning seriously.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact your financial institution using the number on the back of your card or through its official app.

👉 PLEASE SHARE THIS POST. A quick warning to a friend, parent, grandparent, or neighbor could prevent someone from losing thousands of dollars.
