The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. the contract to replace 2 bridges and approaches on Palmer Road / CR 305 over the Little Ochlocknee River and Little Ochlocknee River Overflow in Thomas County. As part of this project, a full road closure will be required, along with an off-site detour.

All signage and message boards are in place and the road will officially be closed Monday, May 11th.

A friendly reminder that beginning tonight, Monday, May 4th, The Scruggs Company, will begin resurfacing the streets in the Colonial Square project - Independence Avenue, Williamsburg Avenue, Liberty Street, Constitution Avenue, and Constitution Avenue Extension. Work will begin at 8:00 PM continuing through the night until 5:00 AM in the morning. This schedule will continue all of this week through Friday, May 8th.

The Scruggs Company will begin this morning resurfacing the Colonial Square project. Today, they will work on Independence Drive.

Next week beginning on Monday night, May 4th at 8:00 PM they will begin work on the other streets working through the night until 5:00 AM. This schedule will continue all of next week through Friday, May 8th.

If you have to access this area during these hours, please know there will be traffic delays and plan your time accordingly. Thank you for your patience as we complete the Colonial Square project.

A Sherrod Road near address 2212 will be closed effective 8 am this morning for road work. US 319, Newton, and Hall Roads will be the detour routes. Anticipated closure is 5 days.

Grady County is working on Lower Cairo Road on their side. Lower Cairo Road will be closed at the Thomas County line Tuesday, April 28th, and Wednesday, April 29th.

Colonial Square Construction Update

The contractor will complete the round-a-bout sometime tomorrow. We will make another post tomorrow as soon as we can open it for traffic. Please see the schematic for driving through a round-a-bout. Yes, this will require patience on every drivers’ part, so please take your time and follow the signage.

The final phase of construction will be the resurfacing of all streets – Liberty Street, Constitution Avenue, Constitution Avenue Extension, Williamsburg Avenue and Independence Street. As soon as we have a more definite date as to when the resurfacing will begin, we will post at that time.
