We were honored to have collaborated with Programa Mayday México for an evening of joint training, collaboration, and camaraderie, which facilitated a valuable exchange of training techniques between the two nations. This experience was profoundly enriching for our members, as it highlighted that dedication, passion for service, and esprit de corps know no geographical bounds.

We extend our gratitude to The City of Thomasville, NC - Government administration for their support in this initiative. Special appreciation is due to Atalia Cardenas, City of Thomasville's Economic Mobility Director, and her husband Efrain, for providing linguistic support.

The bread and pastries prepared by La Flor de Veracruz, located at 218 National Hwy, provided our guests with a taste of home during their week-long training visit to North Carolina. We look forward to future partnership opportunities with Programa Mayday Mexico!

At Thomasville Fire & Rescue, serving our community goes far beyond calls. Investing time in our schools and connecting with the next generation is one of the most meaningful things we do.

Thank you to Communities In Schools of Thomasville and Liberty Drive Elementary for allowing us to be part of something special. We appreciate the partnership and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact together.

What an amazing school year we have had with the support of the Thomasville Fire & Rescue team! These gentlemen have been a fixture in our schools all year, participating in our Lunch Buddies Program at Liberty Drive Elementary! We are sincerely grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to bring wonderful community members into the schools. Thank You!

To all the firefighter moms out there…

There’s an old song that says,
“Mommas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys…”

And today, we’re just thankful you listened to that advice.

You raised the ones who miss holidays, birthdays, and sleep to answer someone else’s worst day.
The ones who learned courage, sacrifice, hard work, and compassion long before they ever put on a uniform.

But before there was a firefighter, there was a mom.

A mom who stayed up late worrying.
A mom who answered “I’m fine” texts at 3AM.
A mom who taught strength, humility, respect, and service.
A mom who says a prayer every time their son or daughter is on the job.

Behind every firefighter is someone who helped build them into the person they are today.

So today, we celebrate the moms who traded cowboys for firefighters.
And trust us… the world is better because of it.

From all of us at Thomasville Fire & Rescue, Happy Mother’s Day to the women who helped raise some of the bravest we know.

Thomasville Fire & Rescue has been conducting our annual trench rescue refresher training, focusing on one of the most dangerous and technical emergencies we face.

With the continued growth and development across our area, excavation work is happening every day. A trench collapse can occur without warning and quickly become a life-threatening situation. This training ensures our firefighters are prepared to operate safely, stabilize hazardous environments, and perform precise rescues when seconds matter most.

This type of training does not happen alone, and we are grateful for the strong partnerships that helped make it possible.

We would like to thank Davidson County 911 for being on site to support communications during the operation, Wallburg Fire & Rescue for training alongside our crews, Garrett’s Towing and Recovery for providing a realistic vehicle-in-trench scenario, and the City of Thomasville Streets Department for their work in excavating and preparing the trench site.

Strong training builds strong response. Strong partnerships make it possible.

Friday night, Thomasville Fire and Rescue responded to a call that hit a little different.

Just before dark, a local family found their donkey, Miss Kitty, stuck in deep mud near a pond. She had likely been there for hours and couldn’t move.

What followed was a coordinated effort with more than 20 responders working together to get her out. Personnel were out there side by side, some of them up to their thighs in mud, doing whatever it took.

We were also joined by our partners from Piedmont Emergency Animal Response Team and Garrett’s Towing, whose help made a big difference in bringing this rescue to a successful end.

This wasn’t a quick in and out call. It took time, teamwork, and a whole lot of determination.

We’re proud of the way everyone came together for this one. Calls like this may not be what people think of every day, but they matter to the families in our community, and they matter to us too.

The last update we received from the family is that Miss Kitty is doing well and on the road to recovery.

Real training. Real reps. Real partnerships.

This week, crews with Thomasville Fire & Rescue worked on vertical ventilation using the roof simulator at Davidson-Davie Community College. From ladder placement and footing to saw control and coordinated cuts, every detail matters when you’re operating above a fire.

This is where muscle memory is built. This is where confidence is earned.

We appreciate Davidson-Davie for providing a training environment that helps our firefighters stay sharp and ready to serve.

When the call comes in, there’s no guesswork, just training, teamwork, and ex*****on.

Today, Fire Specialist Hartley and his crew spent some time today refreshing this fire hydrant, cleaning it up and giving it a fresh coat of paint so it is easy to see and ready when it is needed.

Fire hydrants are more than something you pass on the side of the road. They are a critical part of how we protect lives and property. When they are easy to find and in good condition, it helps us get water on a fire faster when every second matters.

At Thomasville Fire and Rescue, we take pride in the details and look out for the equipment our community depends on.

Help us help you:
Please keep at least 3 feet of space around hydrants and do not block them with vehicles.

A safer Thomasville is an informed Thomasville.
