A Back-to-School Health Reminder!

We are officially back into the swing of the school year! Along with new routines, new classrooms, and lots of time together come plenty of new germs!

Over the past several days, we have seen lots of mild symptoms throughout the school. Sore throats, headaches, stomachaches, runny noses, congestion, fatigue, and kids who simply aren't feeling 100%. We have also seen some fevers, vomiting, and illnesses that do require a little time at home.

What we'll do at school:

Our goal is always to keep students comfortable, in school, and ready to learn whenever we can. When a student isn't feeling their best, sometimes a water break, snack, rest & reassurance is all it takes to get them feeling better and back to class.

We'll also watch for signs that a student may truly be getting sick. Sometimes the best thing for that child is to head home, rest, and recover, and doing so also helps protect their classmates and teachers and, hopefully, slows the spread of illness throughout our school.

What you can do at home:

A good night's sleep, breakfast, plenty of fluids, and a quick check-in before school can go a long way. If your child has mild symptoms, ask yourself: Are they comfortable enough to participate in their normal school day?

A mild sore throat, sniffle, headache, stomachache, or feeling a little tired doesn't necessarily mean a child needs to stay home. But fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or feeling too unwell to participate in the school day means it's time for some rest and recovery.

Use the guide below to help you make your decision.

As always, if you're unsure whether your child should come to school, please reach out. We're happy to help!
