Temporary Water Service Interruption Notice

The City will temporarily shut off water service in portions of the Hickory Hill area on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM while crews investigate and repair issues involving a fire hydrant.

The temporary water outage will affect:
• Hickory Hill Drive (between Lee Street and Twin Oaks Road)
• North Lee Street
• Hayes Line
• Tom Watson Way

Once service is restored, some customers may experience air in their water lines. If this occurs, simply run your cold water for a few minutes until the air is cleared and the water flows normally.

There is NO boil water advisory associated with this work. Your water will remain safe to use once service has been restored.

The bacteriological samples have been tested and are negative of any coliform bacteria.

Normal usage of the municipal water can resume in the affected areas that were under the boil water advisory.

All water samples were cleared as normal from the lab and the boil water advisory was lifted Saturday afternoon. The residents on Clary Street were notified by Green Door Tags on Saturday. Thank you to our hard working Public Works Department for repairing the water main so quickly on a Friday, in the heat, after hours. All of our employees are hard working and dedicated and willing to jump in to help when any of our departments has an emergency. Thank you.

The City of Thomson has issued a Boil Water Advisory effective immediately, and until you are notified on MONDAY, July 27th, for all of CLARY STREET. After coming to a full boil, you will need to continue to boil any tap water for at least 1 minute. Let the water cool before cooking, drinking or brushing your teeth.

In my haste to get the word out to the 6 houses that were impacted by the water main being hit while a contractor was working, I failed to give that reason that the water was shut off. The water main's supply had to be cut off so that the City's Water & Sewer Distribution Team could fix the water main and get the water back on as soon as possible. The water was turned on and as total water pressure was lost, samples had to be taken and sent to a certified lab for testing. Regulations specify that the affected area be under a Boil Water Advisory, which is why the City page, McDuffie Progress and WTHO/WTWA were all pushing the notice.
The City Water Department will continue sending samples to the laboratory until the samples test at Regulation levels. At that time green door hangers will be delivered to each residence letting them know that the water is safe again. Each of these residences received a yellow door hanger yesterday with information about the Boil Water Advisory. The City hopes that the lab results will allow us to lift the Advisory by Monday.
I hope that this answers all of the questions you may have about the Boil Water Advisory that ONLY is applicable to Clary Street.
